    As far as I know it's the same

    Class 1 Group 1
    Class 1 Group 2
    Class 1 Group 3
    Class 1 Listed
    Class 2
    Class 3
    Class 4
    Class 5
    Class 6
    Class 7

    No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

        Rated by prize money now I believe. If you go here;

        This is the fixture page, the race value in Euro’s as well as qualification and allowances.
        Go to the weights and entries page for the rated 0-80 etc
        Hope that helps

          hi.there are so many classes in ireland.it is totally different to uk.

          in uk you have only classes between 6 and 2.and listed and groupe races.

          but in ireland you have 2k,3k,4k,5k,6k,7k,8k,9k,10k.11k,12k,13k,14k,15k,16 k and listed and groupe races.

          can someone from ireland help me and explain why there are so many classes in ireland?

          regards

            The race name confirms the race type - the different amounts you have quoted only confirm the prize money?!

            Today @ Navan;

            2.25 - Irish Racing Calendar Maiden €6,900 to the winner
            2.55 - Navan Chairman Handicap €5,520
            3.30 - Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden €10,350
            4.05 - Vintage Crop Stakes (Listed Race) €26,000
            4.30 - Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Salsabil Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies) €39,000
            5.10 - Family Day Handicap €5,520
            5.40 - Dunderry (C&G) Maiden €6,900

            The card is therefore a mixture of Maidens (Races for horses who have not yet won a race), Listed Races (Weighted by age and Group wins) and Handicaps (Weighted by rating).

            The UK class system (i.e. by number & which Cran had listed) is supposed to be punter friendly - all that it does is bracket races by type;

            In Ireland they do not take the measure of breaking races down further than by the actual race type (As far as the description goes), so a Handicap is just a Handicap - it doesn't have a Class!

            Looking at the race conditions , the 2.55 is today is a race for horses rated 47-70 and the 5.10 is the same - so there is no UK equivalent because the actual rating bandings are not in synch (They would be somewhere between Classes E & F)

            I hope that this helps

                As above - the two are not comparable.

                Irish races vary by conditions whereas the UK structure is more pigeon-holed.
