  • multi bet tool - lay the field liability

sorry if this been asked and answered somewhere before but i am confused by the liability column when Laying The Field using the Multi Bet Tool.

For example, I select a race and go into to MBT and the set Back/Lay the Field option and the Stake option, and then make sure the leftmost button has "Lay" as the text. If i then select the price to lay at to be 1.9 and a stake of £2, i see the liability for each horse is green £12.20 - this is for and 8 horse race!

why is this? i would expect the above liabilities to all be £1.80 as per doing the same thing in betfair.

sorry if this confusing but any help would be gratefully appreciated!

If you lay the field using a liability option and input £2, the liabillity would be £2 no matter the odds and profit/loss would depend on odds and number of bets matched on lay the field.

If however you lay the field using stakes option and input £2, the liability would be £2 or less only if the odds matched are 2.00 or lower. The liability would increase if the odds selected to lay the field were more than 2.00.

    So two different things there.

The Multi Bet Tool has the option to select liability or stake when laying the field. What you decide to use is up to you.

Since I recognise your username from another website I know what you mean by this and how you should be laying the field as advised by members there.

In your case you want to select stake as advised by members of your trading site. Not Liability.

And a more direct answer to your riddle, the liability on betfair is £1.80 because you are laying the field using a stake of £2 on all horses at odds of 1.9.

This would be exactly the same in geeks toy if the stake option is selected.

This would however change from £1.80 to £2.00 if you selected liability instead of stake. Get it? Seemples.

The £12.20 is probably profit if all horses manage to reach those odds selected from lay the field and miraculously you get matched on all horses using liability of £2.

    Seemples.

How many times do we see this. Total misconception of the theory, lack of maths and a belief in the dream that this scheme is a winner.

Look at what you wish to do.
        Market ; winner---horse racing ---in-play--number of winners one—1
You wish to lay all runners on condition they meet your price criteria----possible lays-the entire field----in reality ---1. It's the winner market, there will be only 1 winner to be paying out on. That's irrespective of the number of runners that match your criteria,if more than 1 condition is met you will have a profit on the race because your condition is set below the odds of 2.00.
If you get a return on a race it will be very small, your then in a numbers game of wins versus losses = profit. 2 matched under odds of 2.00 = profit..3under3..4under4 etc...
BEWARE do not use stakes below the £2.00 minimum pro rata to your stake/liability, in-play this will take too long to match and your only laid runner will be the winner...

If you know your race-tracks, horse's, ground conditions and trainer tactics with their runners you may well be in with a chance of a profit, if your also lucky. If not just do the bet for fun on a dull day....Be Lucky and merry Christmas....

Thomson good maths, but in reality everyone has a different idea.

So perhaps the maths makes no sense to you and you cannot see profit potential, but that does not mean someone else does not profit from this.

Some do and will continue to because of the selection process.

          Seemples.

Can I ask if there's any way to alter stake amounts drop list which appears after right-clicking on the stake box? Copy-paste is not working with Multi Bet Tool, which is a bit inconvenient too when it's necessary to type in some fractional numbers.

Hi guys Im new to this and am having troubles accessing the mbt(multi bet tool).Ideally what I want to do is lay multiple horses but noever all of them and seldom just the one.I want to set a filter that automatically lays 1st,3rd and 5th favorites at the best price at a few seconds before jumptime so I can head off to work and not keep a constant eye on it.Is this possible with this software.Im thinking it must be somewhere near this mbt I cant find.Cheers.

Yeh right oh Shem..Your post seems a little python-esq 'left index finger touches nose, taps three times, know what I mean'.As if there are people out there making buckets out of this strategy, well lets have a look.
I,m going to lay the field @ 1.76. I'm in-play so I need a bot or a soft that will run conditions that's what I need!.....Hang on I'm in-play so if I use that method I going to have to wait for the delay before the bet hits the market....
Now then what i'll do is set this up on the exchange interface and use their keep in-play option, that way there is no delay, soon as 1.76 is hit I'm there top of the pile.

Given that the best way to do this strategy is using 'keep' why not have a look (when the race starts) at the bets that are kept at around 1.7/1.9 'cos I;ve got full market depth, this will show me where the clever money is and being a cutie trader type I'll jump in front of them with my lump....

Oh dear checked it out, just small money punters trying their luck,.... back to the drawing board... Another Norwegian Blue nudge nudge....Merry Christmas......
