  • Toy Crashed system

Yo Geek just was playing around with the ladder set up and had streaming charts at top and nicolution to start with, then when I selected BF graph at bottom everything froze as the ladder tried to re-render ! tried to log off via task manager but The toy was preventing it! in the end I went back into system instead of forcing a log off and tried to shut down etc. with No joy! couldn't get back into task manager so I ended up having to reset manually, Now I have just installed a new HDD and the raid finished re-building about an hour ago after about 18 hours LOL... I now have another 22 hours of rebuilding as the reset screwed teh raid !

    Running windows 7
    3 gig ram
    raid 5 HDD array
    core 2 quad Q6600
650 watt PSU so plenty of power!
Nvidia Quadro NVS 440 grafix card
    Panda GP 2010 security suite

    Any idea's??

No idea at all. I think we can eliminate a toy bug though, as the current version has already been used for many thousand user days and this one has never surfaced.

To be on the safe side, I would re-install all your .NET frameworks as it could be a fault there. Otherwise, I don't have a clue as to why your system would lock up, but it's usually either hardware, Windows, or virus related.

If it happens again, try & kill the process in task manager processes tab.

    What's new in version 1.2

Sound mate will give it a go!
I'm thinking it may have something to do with Panda! I've noticed previously system lag when trading and Panda starts a job off, update, system scan etc. also when the intel matrix storage manager starts to rebuild the raid if I leave the antivirus aspect running it doubles the rebuid time and you can literally hear the drives going crazy!
Might also be a mainboard problem as the affected drive was the new one I just put in!
So I'm either gonna need a new AV IS suite and possibly a new main board LOL it never rains it pours

      TIME TO EXPERIMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Speed plus redundancy / backup glad I went raid 5 instead of just stripe since I've lost a drive and all my data is still intact!

Looking at a solid state drive at the moment though think they very fast or so reviews say! not a huge capacity one tho, just enough just enough for OS and key proggys mainly API proggies either that or One OS on solid state just for trading and leisure one on current raid, save building a whole new PC for trading!

Just put in Zone alarm 2010 and doesn't seem to conflict with the matrix storage manager so fingers crossed it was the fecking Panda GP suite!

Guys I'm not sure if this is just coincidence or not but for the first time ever the Toy crashed on me around 4pm Australian time on Saturday leaving me exposed with two quite large trading lays. My first suspect was that the issue was with Betfair so fortunately I had my back up Betfair screen open and after about 30 seconds I was able to place two back bets that squared off my lay bets. It was fortunate that I did because the lays ran first and second.
Subsequently the following was issued by Betfair:

Betfair would like to apologise for the international bet placement issues that occurred earlier this afternoon. The cause of this problem has been identified by our technical team, and is no longer occurring.
Once again please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

It may be that this adversely affected Shergar as well as a number of other users.
The lesson with these occurences is that you should never rely on just one system when trading because the day will come when Mr Murphy will strike and it will be at the worst possible time.
I'm pleased to report that as soon as Betfair resumed so did the Toy.
Hope the above sheds some light on what may have occurred in this instance.

              Hi,

Funny you should mention the Toy crashing around 4pm Brisbane time, that would be around 5 Hobart time and I also experianced a sort of freeze with the Toy, the API was still updating however the ladder wasn't responding, I also checked the Betfair site and couldn't get the race to show up on the site, I assumed i was having internet problems but maybe not? Luckily I didn't have an open position at the time. I'm glad it was Betfair and not my end, these things always give me the creeps.

Hi there Ian...nice to hear from a Taswegian.

If you want a timeline to check with your experience the two horses I layed were Still Me and Georgiia's Boy which quinelled Race 10 at Flemington.
Yes very unsettling when the little tasmanian devils do these things!!

hehehe......Just because you and I are enjoying the best state in Australia doesnt mean we cant be polite to our tassie friends. Its a state thats produced Errol Flynn, Ricky Ponting, Boonie and a host of very good AFL footballers like Peter Hudson etc etc.
It may have the worst Test oval in Australia but I loved the scallops and crayfish and sailing on the Derwent.
Interesting that we were both trading the same horse when the system collapsed so that seems to confirm that it was a BF problem.
And Ian, both Temujin and I welcome you aboard as a fellow Aussie and if you ever have the opportunity to meet either of us we will make it our first priority to quickly get rid of your Virgin status. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
