  • Betfair coupons and data scraping, a warning.

    Hello

Just a few days ago I received a warning from betfair for doing data scraping. After some investigations they said me that it is AGT pro that scraps data without login or API of the coupons and that I should stop using coupons or I could be banned.

Anyone more have received that advertence? I am trying to not use the coupons of AGT more, but that its a shame as they are super useful.

Have sent a query to Betfair on this, as coupons have been in AGT for nearly 4 years now and this is the first I have heard of it.

Been using coupons since using GT with no problems. It might be that you're leaving them running and not doing any live trading/betting so they just see data being downloaded across a multitude of markets.

On their site? You could. You can scrape them but it's once every 10+ seconds. They can't do anything about it, but the data's of lower value.

The problem said betfair to me is that looks like geekstoy get the prices or the coupons without the API and betfair get requests from a IP that doesn't count to the API 20 limit so they cannot charge you, but they "know" that you are using it as they know the ip that is making "scraping data" is the same as your user, so they send me a warning even if I don't do scrap data. I don't even open betfair website as it is completely useless to me.

We are contacting you because we are aware that you screen scrape the old version of the Betfair website while logged out.
You should be aware that we have recently made a change to the delay at which prices are served via the old website from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. We will also be taking steps to block any IP addresses that are screen scraping the website while logged out.
The method of screen scraping is not sanctioned by Betfair, as the danger is that should there be a small change to the website, the application will most likely be adversely affected.
We would therefore like to recommend that you migrate your application to the Betfair API which should be a much more efficient way for you to use Betfair. You can make use of the Free Access API with no subscription or the Full Access API.
The xxxxx requests were made to the following URL's

                /betting/loadcoupondataaction.do

                /betting/loadrunnerinfochartaction.do
Geeks Toy does make requests to /betting/loadcoupondataaction.do when you navigate the software in the following way:
All Markets" in the top navigator drop down, then Soccer -> Coupons -> **Any Sub Dir** -> ** Any Coupon **
And that is the last reply I got from the betfair developer program.

Probably. My coupons are also several minutes delayed, although I haven't measured the delay exactly.

Coupons delayed for me as well. Even closed events still displayed.
