BDP close Betfair account

Hi

Just wondered if anyone else has had their Betfair account closed by the BDP?

Tried to log on via The Toy Training Mode to practice some trading strategies, to find that my account has been closed and the 400 quid in it has not been returned to me?

There has been a rash of stories like this. Putting two & two together, pretty much all the Betfair API products now offer training modes, which essentially connect to Betfair, suck down the price information, and do not make any bets....

Betfair like to charge people who do this, (I think 'cos they are probably selling on the info to punters). If you aren't paying them for the data, it seems that they will close your account, usually without asking you for an explanation..

I can't speak for Geek, but I suspect the answer lies with using historic data for training, perhaps some download into a local database might do it.

If you cosy up to BF and explain that you were training, they make take a kindly view.....

I rang Betfair Helpdesk, but they weren't much help to be honest, just said there was a note on my account saying it had been closed down BDP and that I would have to email them, no further information given. I'm currently waiting for a reply?

BDP are the ones to mail. They are generally quite good & you should be sorted out pretty quickly if you mail them.

It's quite amusing considering the reason training mode was rolled out across the major providers was at the insistence of their education dept as a pre requisite to run courses for them. { Yup, as much as RT claim to take the credit for that one, they weren't the first & it wasn't their idea. }

That's put my mind at ease, was beginning to think that my Betfair trading days were over and I was gonna be out of pocket too.

I've had a response from BDP, they feel that my account is being used for commercial / business purposes, as I have not placed many bets recently, but view live markets regularly via the training mode of The Toy.

In short BDP offered to reactivate my account if I agree to use betfair historical data and not training mode.

On one hand I don't want to agree with these terms, but on the other I do want my account up and running again. Any suggestions as to what I should do / say to BDP greatly appreciated?:Arragh

I too have just had my account closed by Betfair and only just opened it in August.
I have sent an email to them and also rang the help desk.

My Betfair account was reactivated this afternoon by BDP, but I have had to agree not to use The Toys Training Mode for testing strategies over a sustained period, instead I have to use Betfair historical data.

My account was also closed and i´m required not to use trainning mode.

Is it possible to use historical data with AGT? From what i´ve checked historical data is expensive and it cant be used without a software.

Can anyone help on this?

I opened a new account and guess what? I´ve checked a couple of soccer games in trainning mode and.. ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED!

A brand new account closed in less then 24h.. all funds gone!

Geek should consider removing trainning mode from AGT as it will close more accounts everyday!!

I wouldn't advise you to play with trading mode atm. Concerning horse racing, you may find an archive of all Betfair starting prices here:
