I'm thinking of developing an app for android tablets for trading on Betfair. But I'd like to know if anyone would actually use it.

Personally I like the idea of a more interactive trading experience, and with proper design I believe it could make trading more fun and comfortable.

In the interest of being upfront: if I were to make such an app I'm looking for monetary gain. Not a lot, but still. Which is why I'd like some feedback. I would like to avoid ads, so it would either be a one time fee or a small monthly fee. But of course the app has to have a certain level of quality, and be useful before I'll make people pay for it.

I'm a bit late to the party here but Android could use an app that gives me a ladder and let's me hedge easily. I'd pay money for it but I doubt you'd sell enough or can charge enough to make it worth your while.

I don't actually believe it is me missing the point. I believe there are possibly 20 threads on this here forum explaining the use of the Toy on tablets and phones. I have used it on many occassions.
I doubt there is much an app could achieve that teamviewer/logmein/phonemypc couldn't do. You would need wireless for a start to combat the heavy download, which if using wireless there is no drama anyway, and 3G or whatever we are using now would still provide no advantage over the same said programs.

The only possible reason you would benefit from such a thing is if your computer and vps went down. But then trading out from the website would be just as easy anyway if that is all that it is needed to do. If both your computer and vps went down at the same time I think you have more important things to worry about than a couple of hours trading, like maybe sorting them out so they don't do so again.

I agree with you if you're in a position where you can be away from your computer yet be sure no one else will touch it. I'm not so lucky

For me just a simple application that allows me to navigate the markets fast and will let me quickly put some bets in and let me hedge easily would be great but at the same time won't replace the Toy for the more complicated stuff.

Connecting to your home PC or VPS isn't ideal as it's an uneccessary link in the chain where things can go wrong and slows things down. I think the tablet market will eventually take off and a dedicated app would be useful. Whether or not it'll be worth your effort at this time is another matter though

My point exactly. Another factor that'll also slow you down is the upload speed on your home connection.

It took some time to get the discussion, I was trying to start, going. And as it stands now, I'm probably not going to start this project.

Maybe if I have some spare time and nothing else to do, but I don't think that will be the case for quite some time.
