Believe it or not there are people who find the course useful, so it isn't a totally one sided street.

Well, it certainly registered on mine. Mr P has advised reading carefully. Sadly for me, I am cursed to be a "literal reader". I would recommend that all re-read the entire thread and pay particular attention to the the early posts which paint an altogether different picture of the training course.

I wouldn't dream of paying £400 to attend such a course because I appreciate the value of money having had to work hard for it all my life. And that, as they say, is my final word on this matter. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll just toddle off and sit with the other bigots in the corner. We promise we'll be quiet from now on

Ah, the penny has just dropped that some people might have seen me as an apologist for, or promoter of, Peter Webb. You'll probably laugh if I tell you that until I'd booked my place on that course I'd never even heard of the guy.

So no, all the opinions I expressed, good and bad, were mine alone. Clearly I got hot under the collar for what I perceived as criticism of me for paying to attend the course, and people who inaccurately condemned the content of a course that sounded nothing like the one I attended. I'm sorry if I went too far.

And yes Mickey Pearce is quite right. When I first came on here I expressed the view (which I still hold) that The Toy is superior in numerous ways to Bet Angel . I have no loyalty to PW or BD whatsoever! :Thanks

Perhaps a little time-out is required on this thread, before it descends any further.

We all know the PW has a long history and he is not everyones favourite, but if you read carefully what LS has written, then look at his original posts, you might reconsider your opinions about him. (not PW )

If he is subtly marketing for PW then he is very good at it, because he did not register on my spamometer, when I read his posts.

Oh! and yes, LS also gets a gold star from me for introducing himself in a proper manner. Unlike so many of our new guests these days. :Welcome

Yes, you're right.Whatever the motives behind the praising of Mr Webb and his course, it seems to have backfired. I cannot imagine anybody who has read this thread wanting to go on the course now. They need to work on their marketing strategy.

I haven't intentionally been abusive and I'm happy to apologise to anyone who's been offended by my comments. I have merely been asserting a robust defence of my decision to attend the Betfair Trading Course in the face of strong criticism on this page of my decision to do so.

I'm not here to defend Peter Webb or his company or his methods of doing business. Clearly I know less about him than several people here. But that is a separate issue from condemning the decision of myself and others to pay for attending his course.

As it happens I have repeatedly considered whether or not to attend that course for nearly two years, far longer than I'd agonise over a decision to buy a TV or fridge. I have been trading for around 5 years and seem to have the right mentality to be a trader because overall I've done so profitably (albeit with some spectacular mistakes along the way) but I felt that my self-taught knowledge might benefit from someone with greater experience. For me the decision to attend was right and I don't regret the money I spent.

Of course I sound defensive when people who clearly don't know what the course was about say things like:

it's just another way to sell more subscriptions to BetAngel

or

it's very sad that twenty men want to spend £400 by attending such a course

So come on guys, please accept my assurance that no offence was intended on my part. As a newcomer here I just wasn't prepared for such strong criticism of me for trying to improve my trading skills.

Mr Webb has had lots of free publicity. A cynic could be excused for thinking that this has been the result of organised campaigning.

Quite possibly, he was 9 short this month.

I think you probably got off on the wrong foot as in your first post you had said you had read material on the forum regarding the topic ,then chose to post in an area which is offering new traders free advise.You cannot judge if the course is value in a couple of days.It is also a topic that shows up every now and then,which many people have strong veiws on.I dont think anyone on here thinks they are supertrader, but most like to figure things out for themselves with the free help available.Very rarely a newbies question will go unanswered.
I have never been on the course so cannot comment.I sincerly hope you get out of it what you were looking for.
My wife is quite similar to peter webb in that she sits in a room full of people to earn her money by day.Hers is considerably less than his as she works in an old peoples care home.This makes you wonder about the values in todays world.Never mind i know she gets a good sleep.

Every single one of us has learned from others at some point, it's just some choose not to do it in a way where you are paying £400 + Travel Expenses to be packed 20 to a room & shown how to use Bet Angel for most of the day. Now your opinion of the course may differ to that, however as you have seen on this thread, yours isn't the only opinion, so please respect other peoples.

Newcomers to this forum need to be told that they must be careful as they enter the trading world. Nobody is issuing orders to them and they are free to do as they wish.

I think all should be advised to think long and hard before they spend £400 on anything whether it be a new television, fridge or training course.

In my day job (not trading) I'm pretty good at what I do. It's taken me 30 years of experience and training to be good. But I will never, ever assume that I know it all and have nothing to learn from others. Look at any area of excellence and you will see the people at the very top of their game still receiving coaching and training, still trying to improve by practising and learning from others.

The biggest boost I've received this week to my optimism for trading successfully hasn't been the Peter Webb course, it's been learning here that so many other traders are self-taught know-it-alls who really believe they have nothing to learn from someone else with experience. On last night's football I profited £80 by trading the market using a strategy I had never considered before the course. Okay so I need to do that several times to win back my £400 course fee but I'm now more confident that I will do it.

At the risk of repeating myself Rockaren, the course wasn't about trading applications and software. Not in the slightest. It wasn't a means for Peter to promote Bet Angel. It was all about money management, risk management, how the market moves, when to enter and exit and at what price point, which markets are best to trade, and so on. Anyone who says they know everything about those topics and has nothing to learn is just exposing themselves as ignorant. And anyone who criticises people for attending a trading course without even having attended it themselves and without knowing what it was about just because they have a grudge against the bloke running the course just makes themselves look foolish.

I was perfectly aware of the quote. Do you need to stick your finger in the fire to know that you will be burned ?

If an individual feels so inadequate about his own ability to learn trading that he has to pay large amounts of money to sit in front of another, that's up to him.

I will not attend such a course as I have confidence in my own abilities.

You may find so much info and get some very good advices from other traders for FREE....(forums, blogs...etc)

It's why I think it's amazing with so many guys ready to spend £400 by attending something called " Peter's trading masterclass"


and not to forget...you may find some FREE trading applications....there is so much more than Peter W and BetAngel available ....all traders should know that.

I will consider calling Mr Peter Webb a nice guy when/if he start talking about other trading applications. As it looks now it's just another way to sell more subscriptions to BetAngel, or should I say...Betevil

I find that I am able to judge my performance by looking at my Betfair balance about fifteen times every day. I don't pretend to be a professional trader and for me it's a fascinating hobby. If I can't learn on my own, I don't want to learn. Been the same all my life. I do it my way and the day I start doing it somebody else's way will be the day I pack it in.

My hotel accommodation in Bangkok for my next holiday will be approximately £400. I think it's very sad that twenty men want to spend £400 by attending such a course. I couldn't stand being in a room with twenty blokes who were all hanging on every word of the twenty first bloke. Of course, I am not normal. Mercifully ! Thank God we are all different
