Soccer Category Changes - Views Please

The Soccer category has picked up quite nicely. I looked at it today & thought it would be an idea to subdivide the forum so particular content is easier to locate.

My starting point was to move all the A vs B threads into a sub-forum called Matches. I was thinking about the possibility of splitting the remaining topics into say "Soccer Trading" & "News & General Discussion".

However I know bugger all about footie, so would be interested to hear suggestions & feedback.

Uk Matches
Spanish Matches
Italian Matches
German Matches
French Matches
Rest of the world Matches

maybe a bit much but just an idea,

the footy section will grow and grow because footy is the best sport in the land and its were all newbies should start.

I think for now just the one match category will do, as the first page covers the past month. It's a good idea for when it gets a lot busier though.

I think two categories of matches would be good - televised and non-televised. This might even lead to discussion of Russian and Dutch matches which are shown on ESPN but have absolutely no coverage in the Racing Post.

Without too many threads I would leave it the way it is now... but i dont really mind. As a matter of fact, I only check new posts added since last visit, so I dont really notice on which part of the forum they really are.

Yep, ditto........no need to click every category's thread every single day to get you up to date.

But I can see the need for adding new category's to keep it all nice and organised, when you need to search for an earlier posted thread.

OK, I've redecorated again a little bit.

Will review again in a few weeks, in the meantime stick any suggestions here.

the word soccer in sub-forums: Soccer is repeating itself 7 times.
That's a pattern but it is tiring my mind n eyes.
The word fixtures is repeating itself 5 time.
That's a pattern also but it is tiring my mind and eyes also.
domestic=unknown word for dis user – difficult
this cross-border thing is like the red cross army
I like the everything else

an idea:

rename:
Soccer Fixtures - UK Domestic
Soccer Fixtures – Internationals
Soccer Fixtures - European Cross Border
Soccer Fixtures - European Domestic
Soccer Fixtures - Everything Else

to:
UK
Internationals
UEFA, Champions League etc.
Europe
Other Fixtures
& the explanations under them are good.

& sort by popularity n frequency of events like:
UK
Europe
UEFA, Champions League etc.
Internationals
Other Fixtures

This was deliberate. When the regulars view the forums they generally do so using "New Posts" & "Todays Posts".

Having them this way clearly shows their categories when browisng like this. Not that essential now I agree, but when other sports grow, anything could have "UK Fixtures" if you see what I mean.

Yes I stand in agreement with you that categories for soccer makes things easy to understand because we are able to see matches for each country in a good manner. Just like the below link every country matches and leagues are carefully separated so that reader should not have any problem in picking the matches.
