Hi guys,
Been MIA for a very long time, finally just getting back to using the Geek :) Glad to see the forum is still going strong.
So, to my point, I have a question regarding the in-play...
Devomark, I also do the same thing, but just want to compare my "true odds" values I am getting to what the bookies actually consider the true odds to be, so just trying to reengineer their odds...
ha ha, that's because I am the same person :D
Thanks very much for that reply devomark.
I guess what I want to know is whether the odds are skewed by the bookmaker to either side.
I.e over/under 1.5 is say 1.25 and 4.25 respectively....
Hi guys,
Does anybody have an idea of the approximate % over-round bookmakers work off for their overs/unders markets.
Someone suggested to me it is about 10%, could anyone confirm this?
...
I placed a back bet for £50 on a horse after a race had finished, as there was a stewards enquiry into the winner, hence the betfair markets stay open right when they cannot be sure of the winner.

Yeah I was just wanting to know how the odds compilers come about determining average goals in a game.
I guess nobody here knows an odds compiler, or wants to share that info :(
I am just trying to figure out the method used to generate the "average" number of goals expected in a game, thats all.
I don't have any examples to provide, as I don't know how to calculate it...
I understand your method, but I would think the bookmakers use more sophisticated methods than that. Seems too simple to me.
In this example it works quite well, but how about when you have a...
I was wondering if anybody knew of the approximate method used by odds compilers to generate their odds for over/under 1.5 goals?
My estimate was this:
1.Check the average number of goals for...
Ah good, glad it's not only me!

Say I am looking at a football market, and I open up the market, I go to...
Thank you very much for that response CrazyJoe, will definitely look into it.
Very much appreciated!
@ TheMan73 - Purely football sir, with most bets being placed pre-match, and others in-play, some with a combination of both, depends on which strategy I am using.
@ eggman - I understand...
If it helps inspire you,
I have been trading for only about 4 months now, and have cracked it.
People say it takes 3 years+ to become an experienced trader who can make consistent profits,...
Ron,
Thank you very much for those links, much appreciated!
Thanks for the reply Ted.
That is exactly what I do, I work out the probabilities using stats to determine whether a value bet exists.
Was just wondering if anybody thought there are some...
Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, I am aware of the external factors that affect races, however, I was just trying to create a ball-park figure from the handicap ratings, which I could then alter as I...
I recently subscribed to a handicapping service, to hopefully gain a greater insight into the likelihood of winners of horse races.
I would just like to know, does anybody know of any methods...
I would just like to open a discussion on what data you use to analyse whether to take a bet or not with the over/under football goal markets.
For me personally, I look at the following details: ...
Thank you very much for all the helpful replies guys.
