Last edition before Santa arrives. Hope your year has been a good one punting wise. Unfortunately mine has been shortened up by several account closures which is a problem I understand that's not only happening here but also in other parts of the world. The only answer we have is to introduce compulsory minimum bet laws and this is now happening across Australia.Lets hope Santa brings some early Christmas cheer today.
Wont get a chance to update throughout the day today ...maybe at days end...depending on how quickly we finish preparations here for the annual family shindig.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and may the punting gods keep your accounts open so you can win plenty.!!

Bad new for Eagle Farm patrons with the announcement that the Brisbane Racing Carnival wont be held at Eagle Farm this year because the long suffering track which has been torn up after a thatch problem wont be ready in time.

Morning all. Weather in Australia has been unusual of late which in turn causes some angst in trying to pick winners at venues where the four seasons are encountered over one program!!. Racing in Victoria heads off to the bush as we enter the silly season. There are however some quality races at Ascot today so at least we have one venue where the top horses will vie for decent prizemoney.
Here are todays selections. As usual I will try and update results as the day progresses and the selections will be posted after scratching's are known.
Hope your day is a successful one.

    DOOMBEN:
    R1 no 2 Fullazaboot 2nd
    R3 no 1 Manufighter 3rd
R4 no 2 Chamula.....2nd..give Scarlett Hussie at odds a rough place chance.
    R7 no 4 Zumelina

Morning all. Today here in Oz the eastern seaboard is being hit hard by large quantities of unseasonable rain. As I write at least one meeting has been abandoned and others in the south if they do run will be on heavy tracks. Not ideal from a punting perspective however we will do our best to wade through the murky mire and endeavour to pick up a winner or three for you.
The best racing today is in Western Australia so I'll do the form there shortly and include some picks from there.
Selections will be posted shortly as the scratchings are known and if possible I'll update throughout the day.
    Good luck with your investments:

    DOOMBEN:
    R1 no 4 The Rumour File 2nd
    R5 no 3 Pretty Fast Won $2.20
R8 no 5 Calandra 2nd......Snoopy 3rd is the each way value chance.

Spring Carnival is winding down as is evidenced by Melbourne racing today heading off to Ballarat. Best racing in Oz today is at Ascot in Perth Western Australia. Here we have the WA Guineas worth $500K in prizemoney and the time honoured Railway Stakes which has a $1m prizemoney pool. Hong Kong rider Douglas Whyte returns to ride Scales of Justice. Whyte went the early crow on SOJ last year and some believe he misjudged the winning post which resulted in a Weir trained horse nutting SOJ on the line. I'm sure he will be conscious of that and will ensure that lightning doesnt strike twice.
Will try and update throughout the day. Selections will go up progressively after scratchings are known.
    Here are todays selections:

    DOOMBEN:

R9 no 2 Our Belisa..2nd. each way. Favourite no 4 Dreamforce

Well the Melbourne Cup has been run and won. The O'Brien family from Ireland did remarkably well with a win by Aiden's son and a second place to Adien himself. The win by Rekindling was great to watch as he had to make up ground late to overhaul Johannes Vermeer. Didnt back the winner however did get the chocolates in the office sweep which was handy.
Its Emirates Day at Flemington with the highlight being the Emirates Stakes over 2000m2 for AUD $2m in prizemoney. The time honoured Darley Classic is also on the card with prizemoney half of that as for the Emirates.
Should be an interesting day and here's hoping its a profitable one.
Todays selections follow with updates throughout the morning and as the race meetings progress.

Today is the biggest racing day for Australia with the running of the Melbourne Cup. This year its particularly hard to pick the winner because of the strong contingent of foreign raiders that are seeking a part of the lucrative prizemoney. As I write there will be 23 starters for the two mile race and every runner has a chance.
Here are my picks for the race including the exotics as the pools for these are huge and if you manage to snare a result here it could be a game changer. You can take an exotic ticket for as little as 1% of the winning dividend (or even less) so its worth a shot.

MELBOURNE CUP SELECTIONS RACE 7 3200m Starts at 3pm Eastern Australian Time.

    WIN: 7. Johannes Vermeer 2nd
    2nd: 5 Marmelo
    3rd. 23 Amelia's Star
    4th. 13 Big Duke 4th

    TRIFECTA: 1,2,3,5,9,10,13,20,22,23,
    FIRST FOUR: Same numbers.

Good luck if you are having a bet here and fingers crossed for an exotic result.!!

Just had a quick holiday in lovely Fiji so all rev'd up for a good day today. The big race today is the running of Australia's number one Weight For Age race in the WS COX Plate, a time honoured race that allows our best to compete at a weight level thats fair for all. Its a race worth AUD$3m in prizemoney so it understandably attracts the best horses. Our best horse in Winx is the very short favourite, its won this race twice already and is expected to easily complete the trifecta.
    Here are today's final selections:

    MOONEE VALLEY:
    R2 no 2 Badajoz 3rd
    R3 no 4 Trekking 3rd
    R4 no 8 Demerara 3rd

Well its showtime for the much publicised Everest race. For those of you who haven't heard about this race then you have to be outside of Australia so let me give you a short summary of what this race is all about. Firstly the hype and publicity here has been unprecedented. The Everest has its own TV channel, full page adverts in most major newspapers, plenty of articles about it and there is even a half price package deal where you go and watch the race, receive drinks, and a facebook and other goodies for just $49. Basic entry fee today is $30 so its a cheap day out particularly if you stay on for the concert. The Everest concept is based on an American idea. The easiest way to explain it is that owners purchase slots at a cost of AUD$600K each. There are 12 slots so that puts $7.2m on the table. The race club then tops up the prize money to AUD $10m making it the number one race in Australia prize money wise. Interestingly there are three equal favourites at around the $5 mark as I write this so its a wide open race with the winner well concealed. After the race there will be some very happy owners that have watched their interest run a place and a group of other owners who will be lamenting the loss of their $600k slot fee. Crowd numbers will be interesting as the future of this concept may well hang on how popular this concept is and how large the turnover is by bookies and totes in comparison to say the Melbourne Cup.
Weather in Sydney is overcast with a chance of a bit of drizzle which is disappointing for the Everest organisers.
    Here are today's selections.

    RANDWICK:
R1 no 3 My Tagoson ...has been good to us in the past ...hoping it is again today!!
    R2 no 2 Spin 2nd
    R3 no 1 Regimen 4th
    R4 no 11 Suncraze 2nd
    R6 no 2 Big Duke Won $2.60
R7 no 12 In Her Time. Won $2.50......thought Takedown was a good each way chance.
R8 Think best chances are (in order) 2.Vega Magic 2nd,9 English,5. Clearly Innocent and no 1 Chautaugua 4th
    R9 no 1 Happy Clapper 2nd
R10 no 8 Machinegun Jubs Late Scr. ....definite danger is Latin Boy.3rd

    DOOMBEN:
R7 no 1 Man of His Word 2nd

    CAULFIELD:
    R6 no 2 Alizee 3rd
    R8 no 11 Kementari 2nd
R9 no 9 Egg Tart.....danger is no 10 Mr Sneaky
    R10 no 9 Shiedel

    LAY BETS:

MR7 no 1 Hartnell Started $4 Second fav. Ran unplaced. Lay bet won
MR8 no 6 Royal Symphony Ran unplaced. Lay bet won

Todays highlight is the running of the time honoured Edward Manifold Stakes where Australia's number one horse Winx steps out as a $1.20 favourite.
It will be an interesting race of tactics as Winx has only one horse to beat and thats the promising stayer in Humidor from the all conquering D. K. Weir stable. Winx has the benefit of a 2kg weight advantage and its won its last 20 or so races so it should salute again. Humidor is the obvious quinella selection and if you want one for the trifecta throw in Sir Isaac Newton and hope for a result other than the expected one.
Second placings have diluted the results in recent weeks so here's hoping for more winners and less seconds.
The racing in Queensland ventures off to the Gold Coast where the winners are well hidden and look hard to find. There are a number of horses today who have traveled south and some who have gone north. Usually this is a pointer that they are expected to do well as no trainer or owner simply takes their horse across the border for the fun of it.
Time permitting there will be updates provided as the meetings progress.
Hope you have a successful day.

    RANDWICK:
    R1 no 7 French Tune
    R2 no 2 Alward Won $3.70
    R3 no 1 Hogmany 4th
R4 no 2 Red Knot (its the name of one of my favourite red wines!!)
    R5 no 5 Pajero
    R6 no 3 Viridine Won $2.60
    R7 no 1 Ace High Won $3.50

    R7 no 1 Almandin 4th
    R8 no 9 Miss Rock

    GOLD COAST:

Morning all and its another bright sunny day as summer has arrived with temps in the 35 degrees Celsius mark. Its a long weekend for we Queenslanders and Victoria gets one too. Consequently the racing in these two States is widely distributed with racing at the Sunshine Coast today whilst Victoria goes out to Mornington. There are two major events here apart from the racing and they are the AFL Grand Final today at the MCG in Melbourne and the NRL grand final to be played in Sydney on Sunday. So plenty of sporting action around the east coast of Australia over this long weekend and plenty of racing as we head to the Cox Plate, The Melbourne Cup, the Caulfield Cup and the Everest.
Winners were hard to find last week so here's hoping we can locate a few more this time around.
As usual will try and update as we move through the various race cards.

    R1 no 1 Bondi 2nd
    R3 no 2 Sambro 3rd
    R5 no 2 Alizee Won $3.50
    R7 no 1 Happy Clapper Won $2.80
R8 no1 Libran......each way chance is Life Less Ordinary who gets in with a good weight drop.

    MORNINGTON:

    SUNSHINE COAST:

This weekend will see the first wave of summer heat with temperatures at Sydney (Rosehill) expected to be around 35 degrees. As we haven't had a lead up to the sudden increase in temperatures there is concern that some horses today with their winter coats may be adversely affected. Time will tell if this is correct. As many of you will know attendances at our major race meetings have been falling as the cost of going to the races has become a detriment. Excessive drink and food costs, gate charges and parking costs all add up to an expensive day out. Especially when you can sit in the comfort at home or in your local TAB and use your phone/computer to search for the best prices without any effort and you can obtain your food and drinks at acceptable prices.
I was therefore pleased to see that at last someone has got the message and has come up with a package deal that is attractive. Not sure of the full details however I think the marketing group is Compass and they are offering a package deal at the races for $49 which includes course entry, parking and some complementary drinks and food. Very attractive if this is correct.
On with the main game so here are todays selections and if time permits updates will be posted in blue as we move through the programs. Sorry Guys. No more updates today. Will do these later

Morning all and welcome to what looks like a great days racing. We had a controversial finish last week when our selection Interlocter won the last by a clear margin only to lose it on protest. It was a bitter pill to swallow as Interlocter was well backed and was the final Quaddie leg where many of us had it going for a nice collect. Thats racing so its onward and upward as we try and beat the books again this week. Australia's Number One horse Winx goes around today and its a $1.10 fav. Thats 10/1 on in the other language. This week I have put it in as a lay because its poor value and on watching replays the horse doesnt appear to be going as well as it has done in the past. Champions have a habit of proving you wrong and because its the peoples popular choice there is a part of me that would be happy to see it win however I simply cant back it at the price.
Lets hope we can find you some winners again today and as usual updates will occur as the meetings progress.
    Good luck with your investments.
