Well thank God the bloody election here is now done and dusted.Perhaps I can now concentrate on the business at hand instead of racing off at all hours doing roadsides, handing out How to Vote Cards and heavens knows what. Of course as per the last post good ole Murphy popped up and made a fool of me with Kenedna. Well that's life in the world of punting.
This weekend's focus remains in Brisbane where the main event is the Kingsford- Smith Cup where the runners will be absolutely flying (pardon the pun!!) I don't like the favourite Trekking despite the top draw and top trainer and top Jock. Its one of those horses that's a gunner and I think there are too many classy opponents for it to salute here, plus the field size of 18 wont help its chances.
Time permitting updates will occur as the cards progress and best wishes for a successful day.l

    EAGLE FARM:
R1 no 6 Noble Boy Won
    R3 no 2 A Man to Match
    R4 no 8 Savatiano Won $3.60

    R4 no 3 Guizot
    R8 no 2 Steel Prince Won $3

Getting in early for Saturday's card as I am heavily involved in Saturday's national election so no surplus time to do the selections after scratchings and/or to include any late mail. There wont be any updates tomorrow and I expect it will be Sunday before the hangover evaporates and I can record the outcomes. Hopefully the running 2nd virus will have gone too as its frustrating to have to see so many near misses. Of course it also doesnt help the bank account either. Doomben has some quality races with the highlight being the Doomben Cup where a full field of 16 will vie for some $700K in prizemoney.
As mentioned last week I just cant pick Kenedna. I pick him to win and he lets me down. Then I leave him out and he salutes. So if you think he can win this week then he is in Race 8 no 12 at Doomben and maybe you can have better luck than I have had with this fellow!! Well Murphy's Law applied once again and Kenedna stormed home to win at $12!!!!
Here are the selections and good luck with your investments.

    DOOMBEN:
    R2 no 16 Guise 3rd
    R3 no 9 California Zimbol
    R4 no 1 Zoustyle Won
    R7 no 10 Chapter and Verse 4th
R9 no 15 On The White Turf

    ROSEHILL:
    R3 no 2 Mushaireb 3rd
R4 no 4 Star of the Seas Won $4.25
    R6 no 9 Rellem in Ruby 2nd
R8 no 6 Deprive Late Scr.

    FLEMINGTON:
    R2 no 2 Ocean Deep
R4 no 3 Big Night Out Won $3.80
R5 no 9 Begood Toya Mother Won
    R9 no 4 Mantastic Won $9

    LAY BETS:
MR4 no 2 Seberate Ran unplaced. Lay bet won
MR6 no 1 Sure Knee Ran 2nd . Lay bet won

Australia is currently in the thick of an election campaign. The present Government is the Liberal and National Party Coalition and the Opposition Party is the Labor Party.
If you look at the betting markets the Labor Party are expected to win by anything from one seat to around seven so on Saturday night when the votes are counted the outcome will be known.
If you are looking for a trading opportunity then if you can get $8 the Coalition then I suggest you take this and then trade out at a lower price as I expect the Coalition will firm a point or two before voting ceases.
If you are looking for value then try the seat of Dickson where one of our best known sitting politicians is fighting hard to retain his seat. His opponent doesn't live in the electorate and has missed television debates and is heavily reliant on activists Get Up to try and push her across the line.
Get Up are from New South Wales and parochial Queenslanders resent the invasion of activists from other States trying to tell us what to do.
Ali France the Labor candidate is poor value as she is odds on to beat Peter Dutton.
Currently Dutton is $2.30 and the value bet as he has been the local member for 18 years and is a proven performer as a senior member of the Coalition. In the interests of disclosure I took the $3 Dutton when betting first opened and I wont be trading out as my political bets are at the level of interest only bets.

UPDATE: The $8 for the Coalition Party has now gone and currently sits around $6. I didnt quiet get the $8 and had to settle for a little less. However the trade returned a quick 20% on at risk stake monies so happy days and I hope you managed to do the same or better.

Morning all. Last week was plagued by wet weather, track downgrades and late scratchings so lets hope today's program goes along without interruptions. Its a cold winters day here in Brisbane with current temperature of just 13deg and blustery conditions. Temperature is expected to rise to 23deg but that wind out there is cold and strong so racing in Brisbane will be affected.

Well another Saturday is almost upon us and again I have early morning commitments so I have pre prepared tomorrows program and will finish off tomorrow morning (Australian time) with the selections following scratchings. Lay bets are doing well however the other results were below par last weekend so here's hoping for an improvement in that area.
In Brisbane racing has been shunted down the track to the Gold Coast where a nine race program awaits. Big fields are the order of the day so winners may be hard to find. The Hollingdale Stakes Group 2 race for $500K in prizemoney is the feature event. Kenedna is the favourite and he is one of those horses that I just cant get right. Put him into the first pick slot and he runs unplaced. Dont pick him and he wins. Bloody annoying actually but thats racing.
Here are the selections and best wishes for a successful day.

    GOLD COAST:
    BR1 no 4 Tunero
Br2 no 1 The Lord Mayor Won $4.10
    BR3 no 1.Accession 2nd
    BR4 no 8 Word for Word 2nd

    R5 no 9 Kapajack 2nd
    R7 no 6 Piracy 2nd
    R8 no 12 Spring Charlie
    R9 no 2 Bobbing

    FLEMINGTON:
    R2 no 2 Sir Pippin
    R3 no 2 She's Sensational....each way at $34 or better Scr
    R6 no 1 Terbium Scr.
    R7 no 3 Steel Prince Won $2

Looks like a nice program in most areas so lets hope that relates to a few winners and a profitable day.
Eagle Farm in Brisbane will be pleased that they have snared the well performed Redzel for Race 9 which is a coup for the Club.
Caulfield in Melbourne has the Ladbrokes Showdown for 2 year olds and thats worth close to $1m in prizemoney. Race has attracted a capacity field and its a dead set lottery here.
I have some early commitments tomorrow so this preamble is being done on Friday evening so I dont have to rush too much with the selections tomorrow.
Here are the selections and best wishes for a profitable day.

    CAULFIELD:
    R1 no 8 Miss Street
    R2 no 1 Mandela Effect
    R3 no 2 Truly Discreet

Its that time of the year where I head off to the wilderness for some adventure and something completely different to the normal cut and thrust of everyday life.
I'll be back in about a month so providing I dont get lost in the jungle, normal contributions here will resume around then.
In the meantime take care and I hope you manage to pick plenty of winners.

Well its another mixed bag weekend for me as my better half has organised some work for me on Saturday morning so unless it rains (and yes it looks a 50/50 chance that my prayers may be rewarded) then its hands off the keyboard and off to work we go. So that explains why the early mail is now being posted with the understanding that it will change tomorrow as the scratchings come through along with the late mail.
Racing around the country on Saturday is above average with the highlight being the inaugural running of the All Star Mile race for a very cool prizemoney of $5m. The field has been chosen by public vote so its an interesting concept which seeks to claw back Victoria to the top of the racing ladder in Australia after New South Wales nicked it with concepts like the Everest.
Racing in Brisbane moves on down to the glitter of the Gold Coast where the top race will be the Aquis Jewel for two year olds where they will be competing for $500K in prizemoney. Hardly compares to to the All Star Mile race however its a biggie for the Gold Coast at this time of the year.
Sydney racing is off to Rosehill where the main event is the Coolmore Classic, a Group 1 race for $600k in prizemoney.
Big fields dominant racing here so winners could be hard to find however will do my best to flush out a few for you.

Here are Saturday's early mail selections.

    GOLD COAST:
    R7 no 10 Sugar Boom
R8 no 3 Defence Missile Race Abandoned
R9 no 5 Mr Marbellouz....danger is no 10 Malvern Estate (11/1) who loves the wet Race Abandoned

    FLEMINGTON:
    R3 no 2 Talented 3rd
R7 no 1 Widgee Turf. Won $5..always tries his heart out. Big weight but good each value at $6 or better
R8 no 13 Mystic Journey..Won $4.20.Pride of Tasmania..bad barrier but big heart. Each way at $4 or better.. Gave no7 Man Of his Word a very rough place chance at $91 or better

    ROSEHILL:
    R5 No 11 Verry Elleegant Won $2.60
    R6 no 7 Brimham Rocks...4th.each way @12/1
R7 no 16 Fiesta...each way chance at $16/1 or better

SR3 no 4 Athiri Ran 3rd. Lay Bet Won

Morning all wherever you are on the globe today and welcome to one of Australia's feature races known as the Newmarket Handicap which is run at Flemington over a straight course of six furlongs or 1200m as its known these days. The race is unique because it can have some 23 starters so quite a sight to see so many horses spread across the track and thundering towards the winning post. If you have read this site in the past you would have picked up that I have a few favourite horses that I regularly trot out as a selection. In the Newmarket there are two in Santa Ana Lane and Osborne Bulls both of which have excellent chances. Osbourne Bulls is the favourite here but I cant get past the sensational finishing burst that Santa Ana Lane possesses. So Santa gets my first preference and it helps that he is a $11 chance as I write this and that he has won previously down the straight six. Its a tough race with a Melbourne Cup size field so if you get a chance to watch this one then do so as its quite a sight.
Interestingly I note that Western Australia's top jock in William Pike has a ride in the Newmarket on Graff which is a chance in this tough race. He also has other rides mainly on outsiders so if you like a good jock on a roughie then you could do a lot worse then following his rides today at Flemington.
Here are today's selections and time permitting updates will occur as the meetings progress.

    FLEMINGTON:
    R1 no 7 Mystyko
    R2 no7 Greyworm 2nd
    R4 no 2 Sunset Watch 2nd
R6 no 2 Santa Ana Lane.....with a saver each way on No 4 Osborne Bulls 2nd
    R7 no 9 Kenyan Wonder
    R8 no 7 Avilus
R9 no 10 Naatali 2nd is the get out chance.

    RANDWICK:
    R5 no 1 Redzel 2nd
    R6 no 2 Pierata
R7 no 1 The Autumn Sun. Won...looks a special here

    EAGLE FARM:
    R1 no 2 Sizzling Babe Won $2.50
    R3 no 4 Perfect Witness 2nd
    R4 no 12 Shalwa
    R6 no 2 Tatcee 4th
    R8 no 4 Capital Connection Won $2.40

    LAY BETS:
MR6 no 21 Zousain Ran unplaced. Lay bet Won
MR7 No1 Angelic Ruler Started Fav. Ran 3rd. Lay bet Won

Terbium kicked the tin for us last week by rolling the odds on favourite. Nice to see a positive result and lets hope we can keep up the momentum for a similar result on Saturday. Early morning committments on Saturday mean an earlier than normal post which will be updated before racing kicks off tomorrow.
The Australian Guineas for three year olds is the feature race with $1m in prizemoney up for grabs and it will be run at Flemington. In Sydney at Randwick the feature races are the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes worth $600k and the Surround Stakes where the prizemoney is $500k.

The spotlight moves across to Caulfield this Saturday with the running of the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes and Oakleigh Plate as well as the Futurity Stakes. Two year olds contest the Blue Diamond for $1.5m in prizemoney. The favourite here is Loving Gaby and I simply cant see it winning this race.
I believe there is better value beyond the favourite in Lyre, Hawker Hurricane and/or Brooklyn Hustle. Its a tough race that history shows has been won by a two year old with blistering pace that sits up in the top two front runners.
Main race at Rosehill is the time honoured Hobartville Stakes where they run around for some $400k in prizemoney. The favourite here is The Autumn Sun who seems to have this set weights race at his mercy.
Here are the selections for today which will be updated after scratchings come through.

    CAULFIELD:
    R1 no 2 Sikandarabad Won $3.80
    R3 no 1 I Am A Star
    R4 no 2 Angelic Ruler 2nd
R5 no 7 Terbium is the value here...each way @ 12/1 or better Won $11.40
R6 no 11 Alizee.. Won $2.80..thought Ringerdingding had a rough hope at $17 or better.
R7 no 7 Lyre... Won $8.80...hard race with plenty of chances
R8 no 5 Bons Away. 4th...each way at $16 or better.
R9 no 8 Avilius..Won $2..Looks a good thing in the get out stakes!!

Another big day of racing on Saturday with the highlight being the return of Winx who was recently voted equal top horse in the World. Winx will contest the Group 2 Apollo Stakes where she will start a very short priced favourite. If she wins this then that will be thirty wins straight for the bonny mare. The race will at this stage have a field of eight and interestingly six of the runners are from the stable of leading trainer Chris Waller who also trains Winx.
Have another busy Saturday morning coming up so again I'm getting in early with this post and leave the updates and changes until I return to the keyboard around two hours before the first race.
Hope your day is a good one.

    RANDWICK:
    R3 no 5 Gayatri 2nd
    R5 no 9 Brutal 3rd
R6 no 5 Winx....Won.....no value so try no 3 Brimham Rocks each way at $150/1

Big story in Australia at the moment is the four year ban handed out to one of the very top trainers in Australia in Darren Weir. The ban is a global one and extends even to visiting a race course to attend a meeting. He has about 600 horses in training and they are being relocated to other trainers. Stewards even found jiggers in his bedroom which they argue were hidden there. Maybe he had an alternative use for the jiggers??? And along those lines there is a report that I noticed suggesting that topless waitresses would be employed at Eagle Farm racecourse in the hope that their presence would attract more patrons. We live in interesting times !!!
Tomorrow I have a busy day commencing at dawn so I'm getting this report out early. Its of course not final but it will save me some time when I return to the keyboard.
As usual updates will occur throughout the day.
Here are the picks for Saturday's racing.

    R1 no 2 Bigroyboy 2nd

    R6 no 4 Champagne Cuddles Won $2.80
