13 winners last Saturday which is around the mark that we have come to expect from Saturday selections that run around in various States of Australia. Hopefully we can top that this week as sunshine has returned and the tracks will be better than what we have experienced here in the last fortnight. Very sorry to learn that Covid-19 continues to be frontpage news in the UK. We all hope and pray that this virus disappears and we can all get back to normality. Here in Oz the rules are slowly being eased although that comment doesn't apply to Western Australia where they want to achieve absolute elimination and their borders remain closed. I do have a flight booked to go to Perth in February but at this stage its 50/50 that I will permitted to leave good old sunny Queensland for Perth. Fingers crossed as I haven't been there for several years and its time to resample their extraordinary wines.
Personal punts have not resulted in a positive this week so far but that happens and no real damage done so hopefully today and tomorrow will reverse the trend. To date I have had 61 bets resulting in 17 winners, 4 seconds, 11 thirds and the rest unplaced. Top priced winner was just $6.
Test Cricket is on again in Adelaide today and my money will be on the green and gold as they look much stronger than the English team.
Racing for the venues below will commence with Randwick at 12.20pm AEST, which is 1.20am am London time and the last race will be at Ascot at 9.35 pm which is 10.30am London time.
Good luck with your investments.

Went to the Test Cricket yesterday. Second day of a five day match. Highlights included two streakers, fully clothed, both of whom didn't get past a couple of 100 meters tops and both of whom will face very large fines and banishment from most major local sporting events. So why do it? Only reason I can think of is that an agency such as Sportsbet may have given them odds to do it or they were challenged by several locals who made the stake worth their while.!
Don't mind a day out at the cricket, but yesterday made the mistake of going to the Cricketers Club with family. My youngest son is a member there so we hopped into the Moet, and cheese and meat platters and between 4 of us managed to knock off several bottles of overpriced but very drinkable champers!! Needless to say didn't get home to very late last night and its with some difficulty that I'm now writing this post.!! For the record I thought Travis Head's unconquered 112 was a sound effort, Warners 94 was fortunate as he was lucky to survive a couple of close chances, and streaky at times, and Marcus Labuschagne's knock of 74 was good but I wish he wouldn't wave his bat around like it was a magicians wand.!!
Last week the best results came from the Ascot selections where three winners saluted at $8.50, $8.40 and $2.50. These have been reasonably good over a long period and I do take more time over these selections than others because its the one area that those of you in London and thereabouts can bet on with daylight outside at the time you place your bets.
On the punt this week its been quiet because of the cancellations caused by heavy rain so have had 45 bets resulting in 9 winners, 7 seconds, and 5 thirds.
Normality returns on Saturday with all major races being run at Metro courses. Yes I know its lovely to give the country and outer metro areas a go with a major race meeting, but personally I'm not a fan, as the form is usually inconsistent compared to the major tracks where you know from past experience what the track peculiarities of each of the regular city venues are. On the flip side there are benefits to these areas both financially and elevation in terms of promotion of a better class of horse racing for the local patrons.
Racing for the venues below will commence on Saturday at 11.20 AEST which is 1.20am London time, and the last will be run at Ascot at 7.00pm AEST which is 9.00am London time.
Don't forget if you like this post then please feel free to tick the Like button below.
Here are the venues for Saturday's races and the early tips. These will be followed by the Late mail, the deletion of any scratchings, and then the Late Late Mail will be the final adjustment roughly about 2 to 3 hours before the first race. Time permitting updates will follow as each race is resulted.

10 winners last week from a shortened program. Best results came from the Lay Bets with Spanish Mission failing to run a place at 5/2 on whilst the other pick started Favourite and ran second. Rain continues to dominate racing here on the eastern seaboard with several cancelled meetings and others that ran under very wet conditions. Lets hope the weather improves for Saturday and we can again find a reasonable number of winners for you.
Racing in Victoria will head off to the outer burbs as Pakenham plays host to the city meeting. And in the west, where border restrictions are the heaviest in Australia, racing there will be at Ascot. Yes its the start of the silly season however racing in the outer areas is a welcome addition to these areas and do attract a good share of the local population.
My personal punts this week have been fairly ordinary without doing any damage to the Bank. To date there have been 56 bets for 15 winners (Best was Crackalacka at $16!) 11 seconds, and 8 thirds.
If you are new to this site the routine here is that the early stage of the post here includes the venues and early selections which are followed on Saturday morning (AEDT) by the early late mail, the scratchings are processed, which is then followed by the late late mail approximately 2 to 3 hours before the first race. Time permitting updates will occur during the program so you see the trend of how the selections are pending. If you like this please feel free to tick the LIKE box or leave a comment as its nice to know at least someone is reading these posts.
Racing for the venues below commences with Rosehill in Sydney at 12.20 (AEDT), which I think is 1.20am London time, and the last race will be at Ascot in Western Australia at 8.20pm (AEDT), which again I think is 9.20am London Time. Past history shows that the Ascot results are usually the best here overall in terms of consistency, so you may like to keep that in mind.

13 winners last week...one short of the target...however we did have a $41 shot that ran third and that helped kick the Bank along...and then there were five seconds any one of which could have saluted instead of running second and the 14 winners target would have been achieved. Close but no cigar. Lets hope this Saturday brings us 14 winners although as I write this, heavy rains are around, and many race events have been cancelled this week. In any case we will do our best to find you a winner or three, or even perhaps 14.!!! UPDATE: The rain has now really settled in along Australia's eastern coastline so it wont be a surprise to see a number of meetings cancelled today and also on Saturday. Flooding is occurring in numerous towns so the good news is that our dams will be full and that's badly needed as its been a while since that's occurred.
We have some crazy rules here now in Oz that surround the Covid issue. Each State and Territory in Oz has its own rules and they seem to change at the drop of a hat. On top of that the rules for entry to premises are different with some like Queensland insisting that you must be double vaccinated before you can enter licensed premises. Its a nightmare for hospitality staff and I do feel sorry for those who cant go to their favourite Club or Pub because of their genuine beliefs. The sooner we get back to normal the better for everyone.
The wife's horse ran last Friday and ran into more trouble than the early settlers so that's it for a month or so, as she can now enjoy the country air before coming back for a shot at some Class 3 races around the Gold Coast areas. She does have another one that's an unnamed 2 year old which is being aimed at the lucrative Gold Coast Magic Millions races so it will be interesting to see how she fares.
On a personal note my punts this week have totalled 52 bets of which 12 won, 11 ran second, 6 thirds and the rest failed to place.
Racing for the events below commence with Rosehill at 12.20pm AEDT, which converts to 1.20am London time, and the final race will be run at Ascot at 8.20pm AEDT, which is 9.20am London time.

Betting on racehorses has its ups and downs. Two weeks ago we had 14 winners to gloat about and last week just half that number saluted....and that included a pick in the World One Day Cricket final !!. One of the certainties about racing and racing results is that there is no certainty and perhaps that's what makes punting on the ponies so interesting because life is a bit of a lottery.!!
Lets hope this week some sanity returns and we can find at least a double figure number in terms of winners.
News here in Oz continues to be dominated by the Covid monster. In Queensland, where this post is emerging from, we are about to open up our State borders to allow all the other States and Territories, with the exception of Western Australia, to enter our State of Sunshine. Currently we have 71.6% of our adult population vaccinated so we should be pretty right. Not so according to some local health experts, who believe that we aint seen nothing yet, and once we open up all hell will break loose. We do know that our hospital system is already a shambles and this is partly to do with some strong anti-vaccine attitudes that seem to be prevalent amongst our doctors, nurses and ambulance personnel. I hope the pundits of doom and gloom are wrong but I fear that once we push the button to open all borders then there is a strong chance that all hell will break loose.
This weeks personal punts have amounted to 58 to date of which 14 have won, 6 have run second, 5 ran third and the rest failed to trouble the judge. So no damage to the Bank, but it would be nice to have a few less non place-getters amongst the results!
The wife's little filly Loburn Lass goes around on Friday in race 9 at Ipswich (an outer Brisbane suburb) and whilst this is her first go beyond 1400m its expected she will handle the 1690m distance okay. We expect her to go to the lead and lob along in front, and if she is allowed to do that, then she'll be hard to beat.
Saturday's racing in Oz is back to the bush as city racing takes a breather. Its a fact that we always have weird results when the city goes to the country so bet carefully on Saturday as the winners are usually well concealed.
Saturday racing for the events below will commence with the first race at Ballarat at 12.10 (AEDT) I think that's 1.10am London time, and the final race will be at Ascot at 8.57pm AEDT, which converts to 9.57am London time.
May the punting gods be kind to you.

14 Winners last week but unfortunately the wife's horse wasn't one of them. However it did run a gallant second beaten a head. The run was a good one as it drew the carpark. There was a shower of rain just before the start and that made the turn into the home straight somewhat slippery. She did respond when challenged just before the post which is a good sign as we think she needs a longer distance than 1400m so her next start will be a 1690m race at Ipswich. Stay tuned for further updates.!!
News here in Oz is currently dominated by the Glasgow summit and climate change issues. One gets the sense that there seems to be the makings of a stampede here to move from fossil fuels to electric powered vehicles, however here in Oz our cars are mostly powered by petrol and diesel, which is the only arena in this country which cops double taxation in the form of excise and GST. Lets see how the pollies handle this as they wont want to eliminate such a large income stream and therefore there will be resistance, or some form of compensating replacement taxation.
On the personal scene last week I have had 45 bets this week resulting in 12 winners, 4 seconds, and 3 thirds.
The Melbourne Carnival has come and gone and thanks to depleted crowd numbers and extended lockdowns it was the quietest Cup event that I can ever recall. Bookies I spoke to indicated they all had reduced turnover this year, partly because of the above, and partly because the race was dominated by a short priced favourite.
The wife has interests in other horses including an unnamed filly that will be set for the Gold Coast ladies events that have large bonuses attached to them. Rules are the horse must be female, the jockey female, and the owners are all females. The filly she has is a 2yo ratbag, as it cant get enough food and constantly attacks the feed bin in such a manner that she rips it off the wall. Stable name is Jina so she may end up being named Binjina or Bin Wrecker or Bin Destroyer. Will be interesting to see how she fares once she gets to the track!
Saturday's racing has disappeared into the bush with meetings at Cranbourne and Newcastle so picking winners this week will be a challenge.
Here are the racing venues below and will do my best to find some winners for you. First race starts at Newcastle at 12.20 AEDT which converts to 1.20am London time, and the lucky last will be at Ascot at 20.35 AEDT which converts (I think) to 9.35am London time.
Good luck.

This years Melbourne Cup has been run and won. Prizemoney was an incredible $7.75m AUD so horseracing here is alive and well. The winner Verry Eleegant paid $27 on the Fair and whilst I didn't manage to get my bet set at that price it still was a nice win. The wife has a horse in Loburn Lass running in Race 2 at Toowoomba on Saturday late afternoon so will do the 2 hour plus drive up to there and she how she fares. That means no updates on Saturday after the posting of the late late mail......these will have to wait until Sunday when we return.
On the personal punt scene I have had 64 bets so far this week with the results to date being 17 winners, 12 seconds and 4 thirds. Best winner was Verry Eleegant at 20/1 followed by See You In Heaven at $10.
Racing this Saturday is highlighted by the running of the time honoured Mackinnon Stakes for $2m AUD in prizemoney. Its a 2000 meter race and there is a field of just 10 contesting this great race. At Rosehill the top race will be a 2 year old event, the Inglis Property Golden Gift where some $m AUD is there to be won.
Racing this Saturday will commence for the events below at 12.40 AEDT which I think is 2.40am London time, and the lucky last will be at Ascot at 8.45pm AEDT, which converts to 10.45am London time.
Hope you are all coping well with life post lockdown and you are staying safe and well.
Take care and enjoy the racing below.

AUD $15million is the prizemoney for this Saturdays Everest at Royal Randwick. And the stud value that could flow from the victory is estimated to be some AUD $50million dollars. So one of the 12 contestants will bring home more than a smile from the owners when he crosses the line in first place. It will be a life changing result for some and an unbelievable financial result that one can only dream about. But that's racing....full of dreams and nightmares.!!
This Saturday I should be able to get the results of the last race posted before I hop onto a Qantas place for Alice Springs which is in the dead center of Australia. The Alice is in interesting place and this time I'm going to spend some time exploring Kings Canyon and a few other places that I haven't been to before. I say interesting because I was there some 12 months ago for a day and when I went to a bottle shop at the entrance stood two armed guards. I'll let you know if things have changed for the better or worse since my last trip as the Alice is a hot and dry place and I will certainly have need to visit the bottle shop again.
Next weeks normal post wont go up as I return on Saturday afternoon, however it will be business as usual thereafter.
Has been an interesting week on the punt so far as I have had 38 bets to date resulting in 14 winners, 7 seconds and 6 thirds. Best winners paid $11.20 and $10.00 so happy days. I'll update these as the weekend nears.
Racing on Saturday for the venues below commences with Caulfield at 12.15 AEDT which (I think) converts to 2.00am London Time. The last race will be run at Ascot at 20.55 AEDT which should be 10.55am London time. Sequence for those unfamiliar with this site is that the early selections go up on Friday, followed by the late mail and removal of scratchings on Saturday morning, and then finally the Late Late Mail goes up about 2 to 3 hours prior to the first race. Last week the two late mail selections delivered with a second at $12 and a winner at $10 so if you like a bet you could do a lot worse then follow these picks as they have had a good run over time.

Wife's horse Loburn Lass had another win last Monday in the first event at Beaudesert taking the tally to 3 wins from the 9 starts that she has had the horse. Its also managed to place 5 times so its been a good little money earner so far. Interesting side story here is that on the way to the barrier, whilst being escorted by the Clerk of the Course's horse, she managed to avoid two strikes by a snake, and then the third strike hit the clerk of the course's horse, which then was inspected and injected by the vet, who then called for a replacement Clerk of the Course horse, which held up the start for some ten minutes. Oh the joy of racing in the Australian bush!!
Well Spring is certainly now here in Brisbane and for the first time this season the pool temperature has gone above 21deg, so yours truly can now enjoy a daily swim. That's probably the latest I can ever remember being able to use the pool so so much for global warming here in Queensland.!!
We have been rather fortunate here in Queensland this year as life has in many ways been pretty normal. That's in stark contrast to the mistake ridden State of Victoria which now holds the world record for the longest period of a lockdown of its citizens due to Covid-19. And its getting worse down there despite draconian laws that are enforced by an aggressive police force . Go figure?
On the personal punting scene this week I have just 28 bets to date resulting in 8 winners, 2 seconds and 4 thirds which is consistent with ballpark expectations. I'll update these numbers before the weekend arrives. Should be a good day on the grisly grunt as the racing here now is packed with the stars of the Spring. Lets hope we can find you enough winners to make it worthwhile.
Racing for the Saturday events below commences with the first at Caulfield at 12.15pm AEST, which I think is 2.15am London time, and the last race will be run at Ascot at 20.35pm AEST, which is 10.30am, London time.
Hope you are staying safe and well and the Punting Gods have been kind to your wallet.
Here are the venues for Saturday which will be followed by the tips, followed by the updates and removal of scratchings, followed by the late mail, followed by the removal of the still working sign and then some two hours before the first race the Late Late mail will be posted and the fun begins. Hope you managed to "follow" all of that!! And if you like this a thumbs up tick in the box at the bottom of this page would be most appreciated.

"We live in interesting times" is an old English expression and it seems a very appropriate quotation for what's now happening in our world. Earlier this week a strange object clearly emitting a waste fuel trail flew over the eastern seaboard of Australia. It was later identified as a Chinese Long March 3B rocket...."nothing to worry about here"...its just an experimental rocket is what we were told. Really!! Then we learn of long lines of vehicles waiting for fuel in the UK due we are told because of a shortage of drivers!! As I do every week I record every bet I have had and compare the results with statistics that have been compiled daily over several years. In a nut shell Win percentages hover around 30%, Place percentages around 32% and the rest are Unplaced. Lovely nice consistent figures that are honoured by time. But this week the stats have gone haywire and that suggests to me that something is amiss or the world has really gone crazy!! My bets this week total 39 bets to date which is slightly below the average number. Of the 39 bets, just 4 have won,7 ran second and 4 ran third which means 24 ran unplaced. There was a run of 14 unplaced results which is now the record. Clearly something is wrong with our planet.!!
The missus has her horse Loburn Lass running around at Beaudesert on Monday. It will probably start first or second favourite and does have a solid chance. She was also entered in a 1200m race but drew badly so the trainer opted for a 1400m race where she has drawn barrier 2. Weather permitting we will be off to Beaudesert to cheer her on.
This Saturdays racing includes several Group races where the country's best and brightest come out to play. Spring time is always the prime period of racing in Oz which culminates in the time honoured best race of all in the Melbourne Cup, run and won on the first Tuesday of November.
Racing for the events below commences with Randwick at 11.50am AEST, which converts to 2.50am London time and the last race will be run at Kalgoorlie in Western Australia at 7.20pm which converts to around 10.20am London time.
The early selections will go up shortly and these will be followed by the removal of scratchings, the addition of the Late Mail and then some 3 hours before kickoff the Late Late Mail will be the last post. Hope your day is a good one.
Please stay safe and may all your vehicles be filled with fuel asap.

17 Winning picks last Saturday and a further 11 managed to run the place. Don't expect this to happen too often however we are now in the best time zone for picking winners as Spring is here and that means all the good horses come out to play for the big prizemoney. Hope you managed to hop aboard a few last week including Triple Ace which was the Late Late Mail selection and it arrived at $20.
Of course the big news here remains Covid-19 and the lockdowns. Victoria has now hit the world record for the longest lockdown and the workers are revolting. Some large gatherings have taken place in the last few days and the police turnout has been fierce with a fine around AUD$5,000 if you are arrested and found guilty of not having a bloody good reason, or a permit, allowing you to being out and about. Of course protests have their downsides for police too, particularly when a 72 year old grandmother was pushed to the ground, fell and hurt the back of her head, and then was sprayed twice in the face by police. Not a good look for the Police Force as this was captured on tape and replayed many times on home television sets.
And yesterday the protest mob decided to use the Victorian Shrine of Remembrance as their staging post to voice their anger at ongoing lockdowns, particularly within the construction industry, which of course went down like a lead balloon to all of us that know the reasons why the Shrine was erected. Not a good move from the Hi-vis clan.
The other news dominating our screens is the curtailment of the French submarine contract that Australia had for outdated subs that were behind in construction time and were suffering cost blow outs. Of course the French Prime Minister has had a dummy spit and that hasn't helped Australia but probably is a good move domestically for him.
Enough of the local news...lets move ahead with racing matters and see if we can pick some winners again this Saturday.
On the personal punting scene this week I have had 44 bets so far. Results were good with 13 winners to date, 9 ran second and 3 ran third. Best winners were Triple Ace ($20) and He's A Balter ($7). Hopefully I can add a few more winners before the weekend arrives.!!
Saturday racing for the events below commences with Rosehill at 11.55am AEST, which converts to 2.55am London time. The final race will be at Belmont in Western Australia at 17.30pm AEST which should be around 8.30am London time. Not sure why Western Australia has changed its timetable to make their races two hours earlier but I suspect its because someone thinks that by doing so their turnover in WA will increase due to better patronage from Eastern Australian bettors.
So here are the early fields for Saturday and the selections will go up am tomorrow (Friday) followed on Saturday morning by the deletion of scratchings, addition of late mail, and then about two hours later the final update will be the Late Late Mail where we try and sniff out market movers at value prices.
Hope you enjoy the day and you manage to find a winner or three and your punting Bank for the day concludes in the black.
Please take care and stay safe.

Wife had a win with Loburn Lass last Saturday at Armidale where it paid $11.07 on the Fair. She is having some fun with this little lass as that's her second win and bar one race, she has placed each time since the wife purchased her share. She has an interest in a couple of two year olds which will race in the coming months so she's pretty excited at the future prospects producing some nice results. One is an all woman investment that not only has an all female ownership but female jockeys only get to ride them in separate races for these that have some sizable amounts of prizemoney as incentives. Will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
Have had a few days strolling along sandy beaches at Maroochydore on the coast north of Brisbane so my punting action has been much reduced resulting in just 30 bets so far this week which produced 5 winners, 6 seconds and 4 thirds. Best winner was the wife's horse @ $11 whilst the next best paid $9.20. Best place divvy paid $10.80 which helped keep the Bank intact for another week.
There are some good quality races around again this Saturday as the Spring Carnivals begin to appear. With the best horses around its a good time to punt as the prices are competitive and the quality horses are normally well worth following.
Racing for the events below on Saturday will kick off with Randwick at 11.40am (AEST) which converts to 2.40am London time. The final race will be run and won at Belmont at 19.40pm AEST) which is 10.40am London time.
I hope your day is a profitable one and you are all staying fit and healthy.

Last week we had 13 winning bets which is very pleasing as one of the winners paid $14. Cant promise the same again this weekend but fingers crossed we at least go close to that mark. Life here in Australia continues to be dominated by Covid-19 and the little Dictators that occupy the seats of Head of States/Territories who regularly tell us what we can and cant do and if we do the cant do then here is a $5,000 plus fine. I for one will be very happy when our borders open and we can get back to normalcy. One gets very tired of little Dictators hogging prime time television to berate some of us for what are minor infractions of their draconian laws. I'm sure my fellow Australians living in Victoria are sick and tired of coping with a lockdown that now exceeds 200 days.
My personal punts have taken a nose dive after a couple of reasonable weeks. To date this week I have had 38 bets for just 4 winners, 6 seconds, and 6 thirds. The winners were all relatively short prices so no joy there whatsoever. Still us punters are an optimistic lot who always believe the next bet will be the savior.!! I'll update these figures as the next two days results are known.
Wife has Loburn Lass (Won $11) running in the sixth at Armidale today. Its first up after a four and half months spell so may need the run, however she is a bit of a flyer so expect her to lead them into the home straight and with a bit of luck she'll hold on for some prizemoney.
There are some good races at Flemington on Saturday with the highlight being the Makybe Diva Group 1 Stakes over 1600m. Makybe Diva as you may well know won 3 Melbourne Cups and no other horse has achieved that feat. I have a photo of her on my office wall which I will try and put on here shortly.
Racing for the events below will commence on Saturday with Kembla Grange at 11.40am AEST (London Time is 2.40am) and yes they are still going to Kembla Grange in order to keep the Randwick course refreshed.! Last race will be at Belmont at 19.35 AEST which should convert to 10.35am London time.
Please stay safe and healthy.

Well its happened again. The preliminarily post for Saturday's racing has disappeared and now the back up page has also gone. Lets try for a third time and hopefully we will have some success otherwise I'm giving up.!!
Dominating the news here in Australia is Covid vaccinations and Covid lockdowns. If you are unfortunate enough to be living in the metro area of Victoria then you are now on course to achieving the worlds longest period of being locked down. Hardly the world record one would like to aspire to however Victoria's tough lockdown policy which includes parks and parklands is one of the toughest and longest on the planet. On the brightside Australia is heading quickly towards the country with the highest vaccination rate thanks in part to good old Boris who has sent us four million extra doses to complete our vaccination program. I therefore promise to speak kindly about Boris hereafter as a thankyou for his generous gesture.!!
Feature race on Saturday is the Feehan WFA Group 2 race over 1600m at Moonee Valley with prizemoney of $500K AUD. I have selected Superstorm as my first pick on the basis that they must be serious about winning this race because they have shipped the horse across from Western Australia for this race and that's no mean feat considering the covid restrictions and lockdowns in place.
For those of you who are new to this site, firstly a warm welcome, and secondly the normal sequence of events here is the early selections go up on Friday and then the late mail arrives Saturday morning together with the scratchings, and a couple of hours before the first race the Late Late mail is posted, and then the "still working' sign is removed and after that the results are posted in blue as each race is completed. Pretty simple stuff really, however its important to me that you enjoy the experience, so if you do or don't or have any suggestions re improvements etc etc then please feel free to post your thoughts/comments on here anytime.
On a personal note have had 41 bets to date this week and the results so far have been 7 winners, 4 seconds, 5 thirds which is not bad as three of the winners paid $19.50, $13.30 and $11.20 respectively so the Bank is still healthy.!!
Saturdays racing here for the venues below will commence with Randwick at 11.40 AEST which is 2.40am, London time, and the final race will be at Belmont at 19.10 AEST which converts to around 10.10am London time.
May your day be a happy and profitable one.
