  • Markets not loading (Tennis, Football, Cricket)

As the title says, I cannot load Tennis, Football, or Cricket markets in the Toy (second day in a row). No problem loading Dogs or Horses. Restarts do not help.

Same here. You can find the markets in 'All Markets' but that is a big detour.

Same here with tennis. I tried "refreshing from Betfair" and restarting the Toy, to no avail.

I have been investigating this, as it only seems to be affecting a small number of people.

Is everyone here using UK betfair accounts?

How about your computers regional settings?

We've had about 6 reports of this since Saturday. There is obviously some issue with the data from Betfair, but it seems extremely limited in who is being affected.

To help us track it down, if everyone that is affected could let us know...

          1. Your country of residence.
          2. The language you use to access the Betfair website.
          3. The language you use Geeks Toy in.
          4. The regional settings on your PC.
          5. If you are using a VPN.

          What's new in version 1.2

            Thanks for looking into this.

            Main PC -
            1. Czech Republic
            2. English
            3. English
            4. Czech, CZ, UTC +01:00
            5. No

I tried my laptop with different settings (4. all English) and the result is the same.

I was in Hungary until yesterday and was able to get the Tennis etc. markets loading on TGT (same laptop). The funny part of it was that Betfair website is blocked in the country... (nobody bothers with API, clearly).

              sunsol,

just to confirm you were in Hungary on Sunday and it was working on your laptop.

You were also in Czech on Sunday and it did NOT work on your laptop?

                  To clarify -

I was in Hungary until Sunday morning when I traded the Goffin - Kyrgios tennis match on the laptop, everything loaded easily.
I returned home in the afternoon and tried to load the markets on my DESKTOP in the evening, did not work. Tried the laptop today (Monday) after the desktop kept failing but am getting the same result on both computers (tennis, footy, cricket do not load, horses and dogs do load).
                  "All markets" option works.

Talking with betfair, they are aware of an issue regarding an expired betfair certificate.

                    From betfair......

"We've received a few reports of customers receiving java errors (i.e. java.security.cert.CertificateExpiredException: NotAfter: Sat Oct 08 10:05:51 BST 2016) when making requests to the API."

                    and.....

"We spoke to our Networks team this morning who confirmed that there was a certificate on api.betfair.com that was set to expire on 8th October but this was updated back in May 2016 so now has an expiry date of 5th May 2018."

This might be the issue affecting you.

"We" are not in control of betfair certificates, so cannot comment on how long before betfair find the issue.

Does seem strange that only a small number of people are getting this expired betfair certificate.

It looks to be a redundant API call that is getting the expired certificate, and if betfair cannot fix this soon, we can do a new beta without the redundant API call.

For now, use the "All Markets" tab

If I had to guess at what the issue is, I would say betfair have many servers handling API data requests. And one of these servers has an expired certificate still.

And it is down to luck what server you are being directed to when the software makes API requests.

When you were in Hungary, using a different isp than normal, you were getting a valid certificate server.

Now that you are at home, using your home isp, you are getting the expired certificate server.

you can do a workaround, select "in play now" the change it again to "all"
And the markets in be loaded
