Betfair API-NG - New beta released

We have released a new beta version for Betfairs new API for you all to play with.

This beta will run free for everyone, and will enable you to test drive this new version and let us know of any issues between now and when it has to go live on the 1st November.

It will install alongside the current version of Geeks Toy as a separate app with the Icon on your desktop showing "Geeks Toy (Betfair NG Beta)"

There has been a lot of work done on this version and this is the first public release, so expect bugs and please don't use any significant stakes until you are 100% confident of software operation.

Are profiles interchangeable between 1.2 & 1.3?

I couldn’t load any of my own profiles or grab a profile from the Cloud.

Just tried the Beta, and as already mentioned, soccer coupons missing and match clock is running backwards towards some event in 6 days time?

Cloud functionality has been disabled for the beta. Profiles are the same for 1.2 and 1.3

Several reports of people getting "Invalid username or password". I am chasing this up now

I have just installed the Windows 10 Preview, and trying to install Geeks Toy tells me that it needs .Net Framework v2.0.

Fixed the issue with selected people getting "Invalid username or password".
Also fixed the messed up icons for soccer fixtures.

.Net2 is not specific to the beta release. The app has always required .Net 2

tick offset still still showing offset bet in column even though the money has been taken,you have to close market and reopen for the amount to dissapear

I realise that .net 2 has always been required, but my question is why ? Windows 10 comes with .net 4.5 installed, and the link when prompted to find .net 2 goes to an MS Page with around 70 different downloads, in some sort of random order, with V2 not being obvious (in fact I think you have to download v3.5 which includes v2) .

All I am saying is, that for a non technical users, who would be using a shiny new computer, its a bit of a negative for using your software. Could you not include a note or link to make it easier?

For your average Joe, installing .net v2 is not straightforward. And if its not included with the latest windows, you might be losing some custom.

Just a thought.

Yes, it is good to make things as easy as possible for most people.

It is hard to please everyone though. Not everyone is on the latest & greatest windows, etc... Lots of people still using windows 7 with the .NET 3.5 that came with it.

If we went with .NET 4.5, then how many people would be struggling to update their machines to the latest versions, etc...


Saying that .NET 2 is getting old now. But it is a known issue.

If we could keep this thread related to the new beta, that would be great.

As soon as anyone sees this happening, could they post the market info.

It is very hard to find a market with non runners when you are looking for one, etc.....
