I've used Betdaq's software in the past as it is Java based and therefore runs on Linux. It's OK and has some nice features, though there's one or two issues I have with it but that's because they've coded it in favour of Windows, even though it is a Java application. For example, to bring up the help documentation the use the Windows command, "cmd". DOH!

There's also a bug on the ladder interface which causes the ladder to flash numerous times. While it doesn't effect the trading process as such, it can be very disconcerting while trading. I've reported the issue to Betdaq and never received a response. To be honest, I don't think they are interested and I do not see the software being developed further than it already has been.

As for actually trading on Betdaq. I tried again earlier this year and I can safely say it is no great shakes. There's certainly more money around in the horse markets, but I got the impression that it was all seeded by Betdaq. There could be big gaps and you could place an offer one tick away from the money and it simply wouldn't be taken. I gave up in the end.

the bet showed as backed and layed before the race

after the race there was only a back bet no lay bet, nothing in cancelled or void just magically dissapeared

obviously the horse lost and i was skinned

i have an un-funded account at betdaq did start with £50, not convinced there is enough liquidy at times to enable me to trade, for instance i tried to trade a race laid then placed a back trade only for it to remain
unmatched race goes off and i lose.
that was well over a year ago mind, i may have a look to see if anythings changed

I was there, I did it...lost my initial bank £50 trading tennis, may be back at some time for another trial

I found tennis markets not useful at all comparing to Betfair's, too bad.

Maybe Betdaq should consider the possibilty of inticing the Mad bomber to their exchange .That would interest a few traders. Stick him on a 0% commission or even a -1% if his 20K bets only get part matched

              Dude

Betting, Betdaq better than Betfair in Australia?
Betdaq certainly better than Betfair in Australia do you think the same?

Well i had an account with Betfair before and it really sucks. As they only offer betting on the telephone and you can't bet online. If you want to do in-play betting and I find it easier doing it online, as I normally bet on footy and cricket. By the time you call Betfair the best odds are changed dramatically. Now i started using Betdaq and found it really great and much more convenient. To open an account all you have to do is send these documents to them your driving license, a utility bill and your credit card copy for identity check and you are all set to go. The liquidity that is their in betfair is more but still i hate when you have to call them all the time as the best odds can change in seconds. Specially when you are betting a reasonable amount in one game so liquidity does not matter much. Also the commission rate is less only 2.5% compare to 5% in betfair.
So I think Betdaq is better as it offers in-play betting online not over the phone. What do u think?

monopoly is never good for the people. But as we don't have other choise (I doubt Betdaq, no I am sure Betdaq can't get my bets) we have to stay on betfair and just pay the fcuking premium charge
The odds of succes dramaticly improve with each attempt

I play on Eastern Betdaq, 2x2bet. This is Betdaq, but with Eastern interface. And I have very large profit there, I made more that 200% there.
Also you can make 3% comission for 1 week. Try to make the same on BF. Also you can play on Asian handicaps and have comission 2%.
So I play on BF, Betdaq(2x2bet) and else one Russian exchange with 1-2% comission.

Looking to expand my operations, so just opened up an account and threw 50 pounds in there just to see if I can start it small. Goal here, is to not have to deposit again, and not have to withdraw. This will be a sideshow as to my main income streams...

btw I asked support of Betdaq and 2x2bet, and they told me that I may open accounts on both sites and to play on 1 market in the same time. So I can back on Betdaq and lay on 2x2bet on the same market. But you will pay comission 2-2,5%. It is just for lowing comission.
Differnce is that Betdaq doesn't accept Webmoney, 2x2bet accepts Webmoney.

Paolo you pay commission on NET winnings on an event, if you back and lay on different exchanges you will pay the full commission on total winnings and will pay much more. If you for example won £100 on a back and lost £90 on lay you would pay commission on £10 if at same exchange but commission on £100 if at different exchanges.

I know. I make it just for lowing comission, there you can fastly make your comission =2% on all markets.
Look how is simply to make your comission =2%
This sums is your stake sums. that is if you make arbs lay-back 50 000 per week, then you will pay 2% from next week. Simple system. And don't forget count profit with comission.

                            same thing

hello same thing happen to me as rod.
about 5 years ago i backed a horse for 1000 pounds at 4.30.
then layed it 1 min later for 1000 at 4.00.
next day it showed as layed for 4.30 not 4.00
but i had green on screen to show it
it went through ok i saw it there as matched.
horse won fine but lay bet just disappeared from the records.and showed 4.30 instead
when i rang up they said no record no bet.
so has anybody else had this happen?
                            good luck
betfair has changed so much not for the better sad to say

Sooner or later another exchange will bring competition here. The question is when
The odds of succes dramaticly improve with each attempt

                                Smarties

Anyone had a look at Smarties? Its still in startup mode, but they just raised another $1m venture capital, and their liquidity is way better than Betfair's. Plus, they offer 1% commission until the end of the year (think you have to be a member of another gambling forum to get that, but worth asking them, anyway).

I have moved literally all my business to Smarties now - - even though they still have teething problems, and some markets are still missing. But the low comm and the superb liquidity more than make up for those shortfalls. Their prices are pretty much the same as Betfair's - - so you have to keep an eye on Betfair prices because if that £47 lay money at Betfair disappears, the £20K at Smarkets will move quite promptly, too!

First time that I am really confident that there is hope for REAL Betfair competition. I have tried them all - - Betdaq/Betmate, iBetx etc. Don't know why I feel a lot more positive about Smarties - may be it's because they seem to actually care a damn about their customers.

A version of the Geeks Toy with Smarties could be heaven!
