Getting rid of the Mafia may prove difficulty unless radical tactics are used. Russians tried to muscle in in Pattaya in Thailand and for a while were successful. This pissed the Thais off and this, in turn, led to a large number of white guys being found in ditches with bullets in their heads. Things have returned to normal now.

"Regional Mafia" is only one part of Russian criminal world, we also have "Thieves" and "Gangsters". These three forces have been fighting with each other for centuries and are deeply rooted in our economical, political and cultural background. It's indeed not that easy to get rid of them...

Good Point. The only problem with the russians is that they still doesn't know how to hide their Mafia and say that their money is made out of business (like your and most of western Europe countries did ) but this will change very soon. Give them a little time come on. Its only 20 years past since Soviet Union colapsed. Your Mafia became an Elite in like 50-100 years

We've had these criminal issues since Peter the Great which is the end of the XVII century, and I can see no reasons tbh for the situation to be changed even in this time-frame
