    • I had an open back position while betting horses today when Betfair/ the API crashed down. I couldn't react at all. I lost nearly 60€. Betfair wont replace the loss. Nice going.

Would you have given it to BF if you made 60€?

        • This match had tendency get me to the psychiatric clinic, my open stake was 1500e for southampton, I closed my trade after the half time for lower loss, in meanwhile the odds were around 2.20, I know it is IF only, but cca 1000E could be the nice aid for my wounds.

This is not quite correct thinking Cran, he had no chance to close position, if he won, someone who loss had no chance, lets reserve such thinking for betf**k site working correctly.

Yes!!!! Because some other poor guy would have lost that money instead of me.

              What a sensless question.

It's in Betfair's own interest to avoid such crashes.

You should never have a liability more than you are happy to lose...

Correct thinking or not, it's the way it is, and with BF odds in general being fairly accurate it will balance out over time, you win some you lose some, so it's only if you are over exposed that it should be a problem.

Anyone who thinks otherwise should empty their BF account now and step away from the keyboard before they lose it all...

Then you shouldn't be on BF if you don't like taking peoples money.

It doesn't come from BF... it comes from other punters... every time you win someone else has lost...

Not everyone on BF is a trader, a lot of people place straight bets... so you are saying that they should have their winnings taken away from them?

                    Are you joking???

These kind of losses are a result of Betfairs technichal failures. These loses have nothing to do with regular pre-race trading when everything goes smothly with the API.

                      No I'm not joking...

If I (or anyone else) places a bet and it gets matched then that is that... it's a bet...

I'd be well pissed off if I made a bet and it won but BF refused to pay out because the API went down after my bet was matched.

                          • I am the one who obviously lost the most - £410?? Should I kill myself ? No - I will just fcuck them! I am actually happy that I didn't lost more it could be worse. This wont affect my trading it wont affect my bankroll because fortunately I have enough money in the account to cover that loss. IT CAN ONLY PISS ME OFF! WORKING ONE WEEK FOR NOTHING! FCUK YOU BETFAIR

                            • As I said before I use 100 % of my bank that i can afford to lose, yes but it's sad that my few months' works can go into toilet because our employee doesn't do his work.

                              • Cran does have a point in that if you are trading, you should not risk more than you are prepared to lose. I trade tennis and every now and then, a player will retire out of the blue, giving me no chance to trade out. I accept that this can happen and so never go over a liability that I'm prepared to lose.

However, Betfair, in the interest of fair play, should make it a standard rule that any API issues resulting in the site going down, should lead to all bets being voided. That way, nobody loses anything. Some won't get the profit from their bets but that's better than people losing large amounts. Anyone who has used Betfair for a reasonable amount of time will have been stung by this at some point, and so no one should complain. Any decent person would be able to empathise, it's swings and roundabouts.

Of course, that will never happen because they don't give a shit as long as they get their commission and they know that we aren't going anywhere else. With that in mind, we should all be more careful with our exposure.
