I have merely been asserting a robust defence of my decision to attend the Betfair Trading Course in the face of strong criticism on this page of my decision to do so.

Then it's your job to educate the yokels.

Seriously though, there are few tetchy subjects on this forum, and you just hit one of them.

I don't think he's marketing anything. TBF to him the only reason it has stood out and interpreted as such is that its rare to find anyone that has a good word to say about the course, PW may be a vgood trader and perhaps he is gearing his courses up more towards actually being courses rather than software promotions as LS has submitted in his review.

I have never been on the course and as such I will bow out of this thread as it is a BD review thread and as such I suppose only those that have attended can give a decent review on the course content and structure......

This doesn't change my mind on PW or his attempt at global manipulation of the API app markets. Or the tactics that he has used in the past, though without them where would the Geek have found his fun by exposing the the person behind the posts, ( a good laugh had reading through them )......

What I would find useful in any review is a more detailed post on the structure of the course, not the content (rules) but certainly the way its structured and delivered.

Either way with the likes of others opening up its doors and the equipment they have I reckon PW will have some stiffer competition on the Training front, and again with JB and SW entering the market place more competition perhaps in the medium - longterm this may mean better value training is gonna be available, with each trying to out do the other...... Time Will Tell :WTF

People here aren't bigoted or closed minded Lanky Shark, you were just unlucky to receive a couple of thoughtless comments. There are 4,000 members here and IMO this is by far the most open and honest forum that exists for trading.

The thing that perhaps you don't realise is that certain instances in the past (which we wont drag up again now) have lead people to be extremely sceptical about people selling anything to do with trading and protective against people throwing a lot of time and money away on courses and ebooks only to lose more on betfair.

This place was actually founded due to some unscrupulous selling on another forum as a place where people can be honest and give their true opinions without being barraged by advertising or having posts censured or deleted if they don't toe the company line. As such I'm sure your opinion here is as welcome as anyone elses though in this case I think you're far more likely to find people whos opinion is to the contrary on this subject

Okay, here goes. If I stick to facts hopefully this will be less controversial

The overall organisation of the day was efficient and impressive. The course is held in a large air-conditioned room. There have been several mentions of 20 attendees but on Tuesday there were 11 of us, plus Peter Webb presenting. The room was easily big enough to take 20 or more in comfort. Peter used a laptop PC connected to a projector directed at a big, central screen. In the afternoon he switched on a big TV in the corner tuned to the At The Races channel (more accurately At the Adverts ) but this served little purpose other than to show us when a race was running; he certainly didn't use it to inform his trading either before the off or in-running.

The structure most of the time was that he would show a few powerpoint slides with bullet points, explain or talk about those points, then illustrate them with screenshots of trades he'd made, videos of a live trade, Excel spreadsheets, Betfair 'odds and volume' graphs, and Betfair screens, then he would open live positions in the market to illustrate what he'd just said. Sometimes he would cancel that position if unmatched quickly, or he would complete the trade for a small profit (he was only using £5, £10, or £20 stakes for these)

A lot of time, especially during the afternoon's racing, was spent looking at a trading screen, usually a ladder format but sometimes a grid. And yes it was Bet Angel that he used but that's not relevant. It could equally have been The Toy or any other trading application. All the focus was on the strategy not the tool. Questions could be asked at any time and he answered them clearly.

The pace was fast because there was so much to cover. He kept moving on at a good pace unless someone stopped him with a question. There was no chance to get bored and if your attention wandered for a moment you would discover that you'd probably missed something.

If you've never seen fire before, and no-one tells you that you can get burned by putting ur finger in it, then yes, I would imagine that you do need to stick your finger in it to know that you will be burned. So thats a pretty poor analogy

I would say it was 80% horse racing (British and Irish) and 20% football. He mentioned that he does trade tennis a lot too and I think if anyone had particularly expressed an interest in tennis he would have spent time on it, but they didn't.

In the morning there was theory on stuff like money management that is relevant to all trading but the biggest focus by far was on horse racing and Peter Webb said that's because it's available most days of the year and, like football, gives a very liquid market with plenty of opportunity to trade.

I would be interested to hear a bit more about what he said on the money management side, and whether he has expanded to take in any psychological aspects of trading? these were hardly mentioned, if at all, when I was on the course 2 years ago

Funnily enough right at the very beginning, when I was taking notes on everything (before I realised I couldn't write fast enough to take notes on everything) he did show psychology as one of the bullet points we'd cover later but we didn't spend much time on it at all.

The various aspects of money management and the importance of understanding tick sizes, percentages, and so on was stressed several times.

You may find so much info and get some very good advices from other traders for FREE....(forums, blogs...etc)

It's why I think it's amazing with so many guys ready to spend £400 by attending something called "Peter's trading masterclass"


and not to forget...you may find some FREE trading applications....there is so much more than Peter W and BetAngel available ....all traders should know that.

Some people seems to forget Mr PW is a seller, his mission is NOT to make YOU or other guys rich by selling trading secrets.

Some ppl believe there is much more value in advices after they payed money for it, just same way as some traders feels like a PRO just by using trading applications with PRO in software's name.
Like The Geek's (FREE) Toy is better than some Pro trading applications, you may also get some great advices for FREE....and I never said I am a Pro, I never said I know everything, I never said I am a winner, I never said I am the best...I am always repeating I still have alot to learn...but NOT by paying money and hoping somebody is ready to sell his secrets LOL

Who knows, maybe it's why, as you said, guys attending PW's masterclass never heard about Geek's Toy....Could it be they just don't care about FREE applications, FREE advices etc...just because they believe...no value if it's free

BetAngel forum is NOT about other trading applications ? So I would ask....Isn't it nice talking about anything on this forum ?
