    hello

hi to all, my names Tony im from the west mids in the UK, ive been trading with GT for 2 weeks now and havent lost my bank and even ended up on my deposit, as ive never traded before im still learning the software, focusing on ticks rather than profit and just spending time with the markets. Ive had a dabble in the tennis (crazy money about) and mostly traded pre race horses. For me at the moment very simply get in get out turn a profit (ticks) limit my losses and use the graphs to help with market trending. Its been a steep learning curve but well worth it as i now seem to have caught the bug and cant wait to trade. Good fortune to all.

    Greetings

    Hi,

thought I would introduce myself as I've just joined the forum. My name is IanCP, I've been active on Betfair since inception.

I moved to Australia 10 years ago and was astounded to see that the archaic and self interested gambling laws rendered exchange betting illegal. Founded Ex-Act which was a campaign group for the legalisation of exchange betting, and successfully lobbied Tasmania MP's at the time of the Tassie licence.

Also promoted the cause in the media with interviews in the Herald Sun, Age and on Sport 927, plus quotes in WA and NSW parliaments.

Former CEO of Racing Victoria, Robert Nason, once threatened to have me arrested for illegal gambling when I attended the RV AGM to ask about his opposition to betting exchanges. I was a very active contributor on the Betfair forum for a long time, but stopped after the legalisation as the forum deteriorated rapidly.

Used to organise the occasional social event for Betfairians in Melbourne which I'll be doing again soon. I just got out of the loop and I'd like to get back into it. Banter's excellent, imo, B***sh1t isn't !!

If that sounds like I am bignoting, I apologise....it's not meant to, I just wanted to give you guys a bit of background.

Once purely a punter, I now use a hybrid method of trading/punting to obtain overs on specific runners or events. It's served me well over the years :-) I started using AGT recently after a review of methods and it is a great asset to me.

I've almost exclusively operated on UK markets, even from Australia, but I am looking at ways to trade on the Australian markets so any observations are gratefully received and will be reciprocated.

    All the best, Ian CP.

    Hi All,

Long time lurker & dabbler in betfair, used the toy for most of this year now.
Started by not buying on-line lottery scratch cards on pay day & put that cash into betfair... the fun lasted a bit longer that way

With the help of the toy & instilling a bit more discipline in to my dabbling I turned the corner a few months ago & no longer paid in every month, but actually withdrew money
Nice small conformable stakes, no boom & bust like in the first few months. I could turn £25 in to £100 over a few weeks... the magically turn £100 in to £0.00 in no time at all lol

by no means am I about to jack in my job (few grand a month short for that lol) by my hobby is now self sustaining.

    Good to be back!

Hey guys just started trading again after a long break, stumbled across the Geeks toy, which I love.

If any of you guys remember me from 'The Sports Forum' would love to hear from you!

For those of you that don't know me (Probably most if not all) then I ran a forum entitled simply 'The Sports Forum' back in 2004-2006.

I then went on to write for a sports trading magazine.

Currently I'm starting again, building up a bank and blogging about it as I go. All good fun.

I'd just like to say: hello all
Finally I'm making a post here, and that's a big compliment to the software if this is the first time I'm having an issue with it (and actually a petty one for that matter).

Great software, makes betting on betfair complete

Welcome in the Market, good luck!
Good idea to use small stakes for all learning period, and never chase the losses (if you can).

    Hi everyone,

I live in Manchester, UK and currently between jobs so would like to take the time to find out if I can make a living from trading on Betfair.
I want to concentrate on trading horse racing before the start. I plan to do a lot of reading on here and practise trading using initially small stakes in the afternoon.

    Thanks.
