  • From Part Time to Full Time

    Hey Everyone,
Long time lurker first time poster. My name is Rowan and I'm a relatively new cricket trader from Australia attempting to turn my current part time income from cricket trading into a full time job. I started the site basically to track my progress and keep myself honest but I also want to give back to the community. I've found that there is a huge lack of public knowledge on the internet in regards to cricket trading and whilst I'm not a professional hopefully a few of the articles I plan to write can help someone learn even one thing that helps them out.

I'll be promoting the Toy of course and hope you guys enjoy following my trading journey.
    Cheers,
    Rowan

Two new blog posts up, one comfortable and one very shaky night.
I just can not seem to get a handle on what the Pakistan cricket team are going to do.

    Cheers,
    Rowan

New article posted on trading women's T20 games ahead of the huge clash between Australia and England tonight. Expecting a fair amount to be traded so if you have been thinking about getting involved tonight may be a good night.

        Hey guys,
Not my best trading the last couple days but +$1320 either way. Hope someone can gain some insight from the new blog posts as I wrote a little more in detail. Also I've started live tweeting some of my positions so if anyone is interested you can find me on there.
        Cheers,

          Hi Rowan,
I am finding your blog and articles very interesting. The thought process behind a trade especially. Do you use ground stats to form an opinion on a score or go with what you're seeing?
          Cheers,
          Jay

            Hey Jay,
I do use ground stats to gain an impression of what has been scored on the ground in recent times but a lot of the pitches nowadays are just drop ins so if the stats are not recent they aren't always useful. I don't use a lot of stats when I trade in general which is why I believe I do a little bit better in the second innings of games after I've had time to watch the pitch.

As an example the other night the commentators were going on about how the pitch was slowing up towards the end of the India Innings but in my opinion it just looked like the Indian batsmen were more concerned with trying to hit twos than boundaries which didn't give a clear read on the pitch at all. When they tried to hit the ball harder it was still coming on fine and that sort of opinion can lead to very profitable situations in the second innings if it's correct.

On the flipside a lot of the pitches in this tournament have clearly slowed up after the power play and that has lead to a lot of profitable lays on chasing teams during the middle overs (providing Virat Kholi isnt batting)

            Thanks for reading the posts

                  Hey Everyone,
The IPL has started and I've posted a loss overall in the first two games! Seems to happen to me a lot when a batting line up collapses and without a real rebuilding period I have no time to recover. Anyway for those intersted http://www.thetradingdream.com/ttd-blog

                  Cheers,
                  Rowan
