American Football

I took a look at an American football match last night which had in-play betting on Betfair and was viewable live on FirstRow. Couldn't help but notice that the odds never budged the whole time I watched the game. I didn't stay through to the end so it's possible that the odds moved sometime but not for at least the whole first half. Some goals were scored and the odds stayed exactly the same. I'm curious about how that can be. Common sense tells you that one team scoring 7 points is going to change the odds somewhat but they stayed exactly the same. Are all in-play football games like that or was this an isolated incident? Looks like it would be pretty easy to beat if the odds never change until maybe the very end.

Maybe the betting was frozen, I don't know. Didn't have any money in there so I couldn't really bet. I could click on the back and lay amounts though and the betting slip would come up like it was going to take it. The amounts in the back and lay boxes never changed either. Nothing said suspended or anything though. It appeared like you could bet.

Never mind. The odds are changing in the game that's on now. I guess there was something wrong with that game yesterday.

I had a go at the NFL a few years ago. Only made a couple of hundred on the game in the end, and that was after losing half the profits after figuring out which team was which.
Wish I didn't work it out....

I've seen that once or twice before in other sports. Just nothing changed for quite a while, not the odds, and not the amounts in the back and lay boxes. Everything else looked like normal. I guess it was some technical issue, somehow the refresh just didn't work. I can't remember exactly if restarting the market or the Toy helped (don't think so), if it was only one market or several/all at the same time (maybe all), or if the issue was the same at the BF web page or not.

Probably it was that time also when I couldn't cancel open bets the normal way (tried to cancel, but it seemed that nothing happened). I had to go to "My Account", "Current Bets" to cancel them.
