Default Betfair MegaMinute - don't waste your time

Betfair have run this competition for ageeeeeees.

Basically, you guess the time of the first goal and if you guess correct you and any other correct guesser shares a £1000 pot. They usually run this once a day.

Now, up until recently all you had to do to qualify was place a bet of £50 or more. You could back a selection and then lay the selection. You would still qualify.

However, last month, Betfair decided to change the rules. Check Point 3 in their Terms and Conditions:

"If you reduce your liability on qualifying bets by placing a further bet (or bets) in the same market, none of your bets in that market shall be treated as a qualifying bet."

Under the old rules you would qualify by placing any bet with a liability of £50, regardless whether or not you later reduced this liability by laying it.

Under the new rules you will be disqualified if you reduce your liability...in any market...for the entire day.

Basically, to qualify you have to place a £50 bet and that bet has to stand as it is. If you win a seperate bet for £1 then that is classed as reducing your liability.

All said, they have turned a pretty cool daily promo into a steaming pile of ****ing shite and they did it without telling anybody.
The only way I noticed is because I thought I had won...only to be told I hadn't qualified because their rules has changed.

Do not waste your time with this shite.

Even if you are a mug punter and you place a £50 bet which happens to win and then you place another bet for, say, £3, which losses you are classed as disqualified because you reduced the liability on your original Bet.

Yeap, the promo is THAT shite.

Nice one Betfair. The shareholders must be REALLY desperate for a return.

I actually won it once. My share was just over £ 6. David Villa, 17 minutes, I believe.

Just had a read through the T&C and I interpret them like this mate.

If you reduce your liability in a market (ie trade) then no bets in THAT market will count as a qualifying bet but you are still free to secure a qualifying bet in another market as long as the bet is placed pre kick off and therefore not in-play.

I hope that helps ya Rocket

yes, don't waste your time. If you predict a minute on Euro you win 44 cent. I can make this 44 cent for 1 secund on any market. Thanks, but no.

Hey fluffnut, I am pretty sure that is not correct.

What Betfair seem to have done is to produce a popular, fairly fair, easy to enter competition.

And then, quite silently, turned it into another of their bullshite competitions, much like the Prize Mountain crap they roll out every so often. Did they tell anybody? Nope. They just quietly changed the T&C's.

To think I went out my way to enter every MegaMinute (1 match a day) for months.

Maximum you prize will be 5-6 pounds. Do you think you need in this? Forget about the megaminute. This is like toto 1000 pounds/1000 winners = 1 pound for each winner.

Have you actually won the mega min before??, 5-6 pounds is definitely not the maximum prize, I've won £58.82, £63.50,£62.50,£42.95,£85.90 this year (pretty sure one of the larger amounts is when I got 2 right within days of each other), I also know someone else on here who has won £32.26 and £27.78 from it in the last few days.

On all winners. If winners is 20, then 50pounds, if winners is 40, then 25.
