Well the Melbourne Cup has been run and won. The O'Brien family from Ireland did remarkably well with a win by Aiden's son and a second place to Adien himself. The win by Rekindling was great to watch as he had to make up ground late to overhaul Johannes Vermeer. Didnt back the winner however did get the chocolates in the office sweep which was handy.
Its Emirates Day at Flemington with the highlight being the Emirates Stakes over 2000m2 for AUD $2m in prizemoney. The time honoured Darley Classic is also on the card with prizemoney half of that as for the Emirates.

Spring Carnival is winding down as is evidenced by Melbourne racing today heading off to Ballarat. Best racing in Oz today is at Ascot in Perth Western Australia. Here we have the WA Guineas worth $500K in prizemoney and the time honoured Railway Stakes which has a $1m prizemoney pool. Hong Kong rider Douglas Whyte returns to ride Scales of Justice. Whyte went the early crow on SOJ last year and some believe he misjudged the winning post which resulted in a Weir trained horse nutting SOJ on the line. I'm sure he will be conscious of that and will ensure that lightning doesnt strike twice.
Will try and update throughout the day. Selections will go up progressively after scratchings are known.
    Here are todays selections:

    DOOMBEN:
R2 no 14 Dont Doubt Da Wife 2nd
    R5 no 12 Colinelle 3rd
    R8 no 3 Gold Symphony

    R2 no 1 Star Sensation 3rd
    R3 no 2 Zahspeed 3rd
    R4 no 7 Zonk
    R6 no 2 Zumbelina
R7 no 1 Morendi currently 16/1..Brisbane stayer with fast finish. Each way chance here. Zamex No 13 is a chance.
R9 no 2 Our Belisa..2nd. each way. Favourite no 4 Dreamforce
    Won $4.50
    is the big danger.

    BALLARAT CUP:
    Mr8 no1. Antonio Guiseppe, 5 Grey Lion 3rd, 6 Second Bullet and 10 Oncidium Ruler 2nd

Morning all. Today here in Oz the eastern seaboard is being hit hard by large quantities of unseasonable rain. As I write at least one meeting has been abandoned and others in the south if they do run will be on heavy tracks. Not ideal from a punting perspective however we will do our best to wade through the murky mire and endeavour to pick up a winner or three for you.
The best racing today is in Western Australia so I'll do the form there shortly and include some picks from there.
Selections will be posted shortly as the scratchings are known and if possible I'll update throughout the day.
    Good luck with your investments:

    DOOMBEN:
    R1 no 4 The Rumour File 2nd
    R5 no 3 Pretty Fast Won $2.20
R8 no 5 Calandra 2nd......Snoopy 3rd is the each way value chance.

    R8 no 4 Egyptian Symbol Won $5.50

Morning all. Weather in Australia has been unusual of late which in turn causes some angst in trying to pick winners at venues where the four seasons are encountered over one program!!. Racing in Victoria heads off to the bush as we enter the silly season. There are however some quality races at Ascot today so at least we have one venue where the top horses will vie for decent prizemoney.
Here are todays selections. As usual I will try and update results as the day progresses and the selections will be posted after scratching's are known.
Hope your day is a successful one.

    DOOMBEN:
    R1 no 2 Fullazaboot 2nd
    R3 no 1 Manufighter 3rd
R4 no 2 Chamula.....2nd..give Scarlett Hussie at odds a rough place chance.

R8 no 1 Black Heart Bart

Bad new for Eagle Farm patrons with the announcement that the Brisbane Racing Carnival wont be held at Eagle Farm this year because the long suffering track which has been torn up after a thatch problem wont be ready in time.
Lets get on with todays racing which will be back to all city venues and hope we can at least pick three or more winners today.

    CAULFIELD:
    R4 no 6 Vinland 4th
    R5 no 1 Mrs Gardenia
    R9 no 13 Creativity Won $3.25

    DOOMBEN:

Last edition before Santa arrives. Hope your year has been a good one punting wise. Unfortunately mine has been shortened up by several account closures which is a problem I understand that's not only happening here but also in other parts of the world. The only answer we have is to introduce compulsory minimum bet laws and this is now happening across Australia.Lets hope Santa brings some early Christmas cheer today.
Wont get a chance to update throughout the day today ...maybe at days end...depending on how quickly we finish preparations here for the annual family shindig.

Nice to see a winning day last weekend and great to see one of my favourites in Feltre salute at $16. Hope you managed to find a few winners as well.

First post for the New Year so here's hoping for a good start. Because we are in the silly season racing moves around from the normal venues so today Brisbane racing is focused on the Gold Coast and Melbourne's racing heads off to Mornington. In Perth their racing will be out of town at Pinjarra and I have no idea where Adelaide racing has disappeared to. There is an expected heat wave hitting Melbourne today of around 41 deg Celsuis so Mornington will be abandoned which leaves us with less to bet on. No problem...we will do our best to find a winner or three.!!

Silly season is still with us as racing in Brisbane heads off to the Gold Coast and Adelaide goes to Gawler. The Gold Coast features two races where the prizemoney is on the $2m mark so racing here will be keen as the opportunity to share in pots of prizemoney like whats on offer today are rare. Nice to see a decent winner last week and the Lay Bets also did the right thing. Lets hope today returns a profit. I have my old favourite in Feltre in again today as this is the race he has been set for however the track is Good and fast which wont help Feltre as it likes the sting out of the ground. Still its currently $15 so worth a go.
As usual will try and update as we go along.
    Here are today's selections.

    GOLD COAST:
    R3 no 3 Havasay
    R4 no 7 Feltre.....Sedanzer is the danger 2nd

Silly season has just about ended with racing returning to normal headquarters. Despite some tough racing around the nation the results have been reasonable so the punting bank is intact. Morning all and welcome to the Australia Day weekend. Yesterday was Australia Day where we celebrate the landing of the First Fleet in Port Jackson which we now call Sydney Harbour. In keeping with the spirit of the day the English one day cricket team allowed Australia to have its first win so we are now down 3-1 in the five game series. Very sporting gesture!!
Racing today is a liitle unusual as the first race at Caulfield starts about 2 hours earlier than normal which I assume is to try and miss most of the high daily temperatures that we currently experiencing. Yesterday our pool water temperature reached 32deg Celcius so it was a bit like having a swim in a hot bath!!

Nice to see another positive result with the picks and even the lay bets did the right thing as well. Today its raining outside which is a change from the hot weather that Australia has experienced in recent weeks.
Racing around the nation has returned to normality with racing back at the usual city venues. Big fields at Doomben today which together with the wet conditions will make picking a winner there a tricky assignment.
Will do our best to find you a winner or three and some lay bets that hopefully wont greet the judge.
Here are todays selections. Time permitting will update as the meetings progress.

    DOOMBEN:
    R2 no 1 Exoteric
    R4 no 4 Trommelschlagen....each way chance at $10

Rather strange weather being experienced in Oz at present. Last Saturday saw the cancellation of part of the Brisbane program because of heavy rain. There have been programs in Victoria shifted around to avoid the excessive heat and this week has been a pleasantly mild one however the week ahead is predicting very extreme hot temperatures right across the nation. So its a topsy turvy style show at the moment which nicely mirrors my punting ledger.!!
Reasonable day of racing around the nation today so lets hope we can find a few winners for you. As usual will try and update as we go along, time permitting.
    Here are today's selections:

Some days are diamonds others are rocks.
We have winning days and others that are nots.
Last week was one to truly forget
So lets hope today finds a good winning be
    t.

Okay so poetry is not my forte and yes last week was a bad one for Australian punters but that's how Lady Luck goes. We cant expect to win every week but that wont stop us trying.
Racing in Oz today is of high standard with Sydney hosting the Star Apollo Stakes and three other Group races. The Country Championship is also on and that means better than average field sizes and better odds for the winners found. Melbourne has the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning where the prize money is AUD $750,000. The favourite is Redzel and it looks very hard to beat here.
Here are today's selections and as usual will try and update as the meetings progress.
    Good luck with your investments.

This week in Brisbane we received a months rainfall in a couple of days. So no racing in Brisbane or the Gold Coast today. Hopefully the sun will return and we will back to our normal sunny days around 28 degrees Celsius. Tough life I know but some of us have to imitate the life of Riley in our Sunshine State!!

Weather here has been abnormally hot during the week in contrast to what is being experienced in the UK. Lets hope the weather gods are a bit kinder to us all and we can enjoy racing in reasonable weather conditions.
Highlight of today's racing in Oz is the return of Australia's best racehorse in the time honoured Chipping Norton Stakes where the prizemoney on offer is $600K. Winx will start at tomato sauce odds and is expected to return on a winning note as the competition is not strong.
The top race today is at Flemington where the Australian Guineas will be run for a $1m prizemoney pot.
Lets hope we can find those elusive winners today and the lay bets do the right thing by us.
Here are todays picks and as usual time permitting updates will be undertaken as the card rolls along.

Some high quality racing in Oz today at Randwick and Flemington. Randwick hosts the $1m Guiness and the Canterbury Group 1 Stakes worth $500k plus the Group 2 Weight For Age Challenge Stakes also worth $500k in prizemoney. Not to be outdone Flemington has the $1.5m Australian Cup and the $1.25m Group 1 Newmarket. There will be some happy owners and trainers around today when racing concludes.
On the flip side news around that a betting turnover tax similar to what has been trialled in South Australia is to be introduced. Cant for the life of me understand why the knuckleheads who dream up these money grabbing schemes always do so at the expense of the punter and leave the breeders and others unscathed. One day someone will understand that the decline in racing turnover and the corresponding increase in sports betting turnover is just not coincidental. Enough of the rant...here are today's selections and if possible I'll update as the day progresses.
Go easy in Brisbane (Doomben) today as the track will be at least a Heavy 8.

    FLEMINGTON:
R2 no 5 Kings Will Dream Won $2.
    R4 no 2 Santimonious
    R5 no 3 Summer Sham
    R6 no 1 Redkirk Warrior Won $8
    R8 no 4 Gailo Chop..2nd.....Hartnell each way
    R9 no 6 Twilight Song 3rd

    RANDWICK:
    R1 no 1 Karavali Won $5.50
    R2 no 3 Houtzen 3rd
R3 no 1 Outback Barbie each way.
    R4 no1 EF Troop 2nd
R5 no 1 Redzel.. Won ....English each way 4th
    R6 no 2 Clearly Innocent
    R7 no 3 Kementari Won $3

    DOOMBEN:
    R3 no 7 Aquatic
    R5 no 2 Niccanova Won $2.50
    R9 no 12 Queen of Heights 4th

    LAY BETS:
SR3 no 3 Estijaab (currently $1.50 fav) Won $1.35 fav. Lay bet lost
MR7 no 5 Spainish Reef Won $2.30 Lay bet lost
SR6 no 1 Happy Clapper Won $5.50 Lay bet lost
