    Default Tin Pot Trader

    Welcome to Tin Pot Trader. A different kind of challenge.

    A little background. Firstly I do not, and will never consider myself a pro trader. Betfair to me is a rather fun and addictive game, however usually after about 3 days solid of playing it starts to bore me somewhat. I have been on Betfair now for just under 3 years.

    I am in profit overall from playing though, although like most I lost a small fortune in the early days due to naivety and poor quality software products. This I’m glad to say turned right around with The Toy, and I have been making consistent profits from Betfair since I first had the ladder running in March last year.

    I have been playing quite a bit in my spare time recently, and with silly season upon us, I decided to do this challenge. This is 2 fold, firstly because many are suckered into this industry by some rather misleading {and in some cases illegal } sales tactics. I hope to prove in the coming weeks, that the only way to learn the ropes is to use a small bank, as this limits your downside and your pain.

    Secondly, after the World Cup, I will be working full time for some months on the next major release of The Toy. So I’m going to get my trading fix in now & be done with it.

    Anyway, here is my challenge.

    1. Every spare day during the world cup, I will be starting with a £25 bank & trading the horses.
    2. The first thing I will do is aim to win £25. At this point I will bank my original stake.
    3. I will then play with this £25 and try to make as much as possible from it during the day.
    4. At the end of each day, my full bank will be withdrawn. { Unless it is less than £10 }
    5. If at any time I blow my bank, { And my strategy involves doing this } I will start the next day with another £25.
    6. My maximum downside is £250. If I lose that much before the end of the challenge, I will quit as a hopeless failure.

    Simples huh!

    One last thing, this is a warts n all challenge that I am doing purely for fun. Any results are achieved by using The Toy in "Geek" layout to play with the gee-gees. { both pre-off and in-play }

    Should you see some good figures in the next few weeks, please don’t bombard me with PM’s or questions about my strategies and how I manage to achieve the results. As I have always said you need to find your own edge!

    Enjoy

    TG

    Default Day 1

    Well that was over pretty quickly. Blew the bank.

    You will notice I lost just over £25 today. This was due to there being £2 something already in the account when I deposited the first £25 today.

    Lets hope for a better tomorrow.

    Default Day 3

    I actually managed to get back in the green today.

    Will be taking tomorrow off, as the card is abysmal and I have a few bits to catch up with.

    I have a stinking cold today.

    Not that I'm blaming blowing the bank on the second race on that! Or am I

    Default To date.

    I've had a couple of people ask me to post my running total to date. So here it is.....

    With only 11 days of the world cup left, if I play every day & blow my bank on every day I stand to lose £275. So from this point in time I can not lose. { OK I've wasted a lot of my life, but like I said I do this for fun. }

    As such I'm going to change tactics a little from this point forward, so here is the new plan.

    1. £25 will still be my maximum deposit into Betfair each day.
    2. At the end of each day, if I have any significant bank I will be withdrawing at least 50% of that bank & using the remainder the next day. If I blow that, I will then start again with £25.

    Simples Huh!
